brother .. you should have did a search first before you committed to the price! We've had many discussions on this.
Are your prices there including taxes or not? Makes a huge difference. It would also help if you told us what year and model your buddy got. Cuz if it's a GS with no options then I believe it.
Personally, I got a 04 GT w/o moonroof for 40.5K INCLUDING TAXES. If your price of 43.5K is including taxes then it's alright (add 1000 for moonroof and 2000 for nav).

I got GT, leather, moonroof, tint for about 41K including taxes. Got it last July too. If you got an '04 when the dealers were trying to get them off their lots to make room for the '05s you could obviously get a much better deal.

I got mine used from a dealership. It had 4600 KM on it, no accidents, driven by the Sales Manager as one of his car collection (impressive). Paid 42,000 even for it, with all taxes (Provincial Sales tax here in BC) from the dealership. Not the best deal, but I wanted the car, and it was cheaper than anything else I could find.

It is all relative. If you want an unabused brand new off the truck car then you'll pay the extra couple grand. If you want a left over 04, sure you'll get a deal but you still paid well over the amount that was depreciated in that year. plus most 04's that are left over have abused km on them. Sometimes they even get in small accidents that were never claimed by insurance.
