Group buy: Hoen H9 (Xenonmatch Plus)

In retrospect, I don't know why I didn't buy these when I bought my Hoen Xenonmatch fogs H11 bulbs 3 weeks ago. Now I have to eat the shipping cost AGAIN.

However, perhaps there will be more interest this time around for these lights.
As you know the DRL and highbeam are the same bulb H9.

The Hoen Xenonmatch fogs are 4000k. (55 Watt)
The stock HID lowbeams are 4300k.
The Hoen Xenonmatch plus H9 are also 4000k. (65 Watt, this is the stock highbeam/DRL wattage)

Your DRL's are now the ugly-link in your front setup, since it's the most yellow. These will fix the problem.

Who's in with me, so we can reduce the shipping. $37 USD EACH, and it's a flat rate $20 to ship.

Monday October 13 is when this group buy closes

1) Footman (H9 only)
2) Sanguine (H9 and H11)
3) Millchan (H9 only)

Last edited by Footman; Oct 11, 2008 at 11:18 AM. Reason: Realized that the Xenonmatch Titanium's are not avaialble in H9 configuration.

Pending the info on the H9 Ti bulbs and my own DRL issues, I may be in for this.

I've already editted the page. H9 Titanium bulbs are out of the question. They are actually not available in H9 form, and are 70 Watt bulbs. I confirmed it with Hoen's rep.

The only option now are the $37 USD for the Xenonmatch Plus H9 bulbs. Join me!!!! Save on SHIPPING!!!!

I am interested Footman...So its the Highbeam used as DRL? For other cars they have HID High beams too...but I am not sure if they use their high beams as DRL?

Is it still legal to put a HID high beam in there even when its double duty as DRL? I am kinda confused...

If we can't put HID into those high beam/DRL, then I am interested, as long as its the highest K we can get without fcking up the stock electrics, which you already did the research for us.

Thanks again for your dedication and addiction to perfection...

Anyway AFAIK, complete list of bulbs for the USDM RX8:

Fog Lights: H11 55W
High Beams: H9 65W (SAME BULB AS DRL??)
Low Beams (non-xenon): H7 55W
Low Beams (xenon only): D2S 35W
Front and rear turn signals: WY21W 21W
Parking Lights/License Light: W5W 5W
Front Side Markers: 194 3.8W
Hi-mount Brake Light, Reverse Light: W21W(7440) 21W
Brake/Tail Lights: W21/5W 21/5W
Rear side markers: integrated led lights, non-service

You cant do HID high beam.

First you need a whole new headlight, either a second ballast or bigger ballast, need a new custom housing to put in a projector lens.

Josh, if your still thinking of doing 6K, you shouldnt do these, they wont match with your fogs or headlights.

The higher the color temperature, the less lumens you'll have in general. You'll get LESS LIGHT as you move up color temperature.

When you move up in color temperature, the white starts to get more and more blue...then around 8000k, it starts to become purplish... and if you keep going, it eventually becomes green around 12000K. By then, you have almost zero visibility ahead of you, it's useless.

A reminder that the Xenonmatch Plus are 4000k H9 bulbs that will match up with the Xenonmatch foglights from Hoen, and almost match your stock HID lowbeam (4300K). They are a direct "swap and replace" bulb, with no additional modifications required.

The H9 bulb in our cars are controlled by the DRL module in the glovebox. In normal driving DRL mode, the output to the H9's are halved. When you turn on highbeam, full power is directed to the H9.

Just so you're not confused, the two small lights towards the Mazda logo in the front are not your DRL's. Those are your parking lights (activated by the first position on your turn lever stalk). Those are standard 194 bulbs.

yay thx. I know about the lumens thing...higher K = whiter / bluer and LESS output...

But HID 6000k > Halegon on looks...thats why I want HID fog since even if its 6000k... HID > halegon on the fogs...combing both you have a better output...

Ya, both me and Kaffka are just going for looks. I dont go anywhere where there are no street lamps with 8. Josh, I'll find you 6000K high beam lights, I wont be doing DRL, since mine is amaerican and there is no point.

Yeah, the 3700K --> 4700K range is approximately where you'll get the maximum visibility and whiteness... while minimizing the blue-tinge

Goal is to get rid of yellow tint in stock lights, so between 5000K and 6000K.

Josh post your pics already.

Let's make sure that HIDs are allowed as high beams / DRLs first?

As long as it's legal, I'm in. Maybe I should do the fogs too.
