BC Goodbye babe.

So this is it, saying goodbye to my 2007 RX8 GT, been nice knowing you and Hell you were a lot of fun, no question about that.
I'm moving on, I was chatting with a friend who is in the automotive industry in B.C. here is his opinion on the RX8.
Dealerships first of all don't want them, if you do manage to trade them in don't expect anything reasonable for your car.
At last count there were 73 RX8's for sale and that's just in the lower mainland area and that's the ones we know about.
Exceptionally poor gas mileage ( 15-18 mpg, if you are lucky ) for a small sports car and having to use the most expensive fuel with today's high prices makes this car a very poor seller.
And if the cost of owning and operating this car is not an issue then they are, without question a great buy. Loaded with great equipment, comfortable, great performance and you can buy a late model, low mileage RX8 for half the price they are asking for new ones.
So this is where I come in, I am moving into a BMW Z4 I took one for an extended road test,,,beautiful machine the best they offered me for a trade in on my RX8 was $ 13000.00 and my car is in beautiful condition, well maintained with only 43000 kilometers.
I guess I was fortunate, I found a buyer and sold it for $ 17750.00, it was a great car and I enjoyed it,,,it was time to move on.

Just avoid the DI turbo N54 or N55 engines, far too many problems continue to exist with the fuel pump. The NA N52 has had no such problems, and is a great engine (feels almost as smooth and silky as the rotary).

I have to be perfectly honest in answering your question, no, I did not know that the RX8 delivered poor fuel economy. In hindsight if I had joined RX8 club.com prior to purchasing it would have been an astute move on my part.
Certainly the salesman is not going to volunteer that type of information unless asked.
Also the price of fuel has increased significantly in the past fourteen months, especially the 94 octane.
But in any event I have nothing but high praises for the RX8, just time for a change that's all.

Cheers.
