You got a problem; you go to a forum. You got no problem; you don't tell anybody. This is hardly representative. And I'm not sure where you got the math to say resales prices are really bad with the 8???

Anyways, buying advice? Simple, if you always flip cars, then a lease is usually better, depending on rates of course. If you plan on keeping a car longer than 3-4 years, then buy.

RX4life, if you paid only $37CND all in for a NEW 8, than that has to be for a GS. Still a good deal though, thats Mini Cooper S prices. ...oh, and you'd rather have a 350? So sad!

really a GS??? **** i got played.. that means im the only GS with leather bose and moonroof HID and TCS!

on autotrader.ca
Where? Its shows used 8's going from 27 to 39? Some '04's were probably on the road in '03, a 3 year old car! Whats so bad about that???

Probably is the key word. Last time I checked there were 04s GT with 25k available for 25 grand. Right now those cars are already sold.
That's 16 grand down in 2 years or roughly 38%. I have been speaking with a few open end leasing companies who told me that demand at auctions is very weak.
There is a difference between the real market price and what some Dealerships want to get. When I was shopping for a car (when I got the 8) there were BMW dealerships who wanted 45CAD for an 01 M package 540i, the real market price was 35CAD. The fact is that If I wanted to get an 04 GT with 30km or so that was on the on road in 04 for 25k plus taxes I would get it; that is the real price.

Now if you grant me my assumption about, the “public’s” conception of rotary-engined cars than demand for 8s with more than 100k is going to be minimal. I know quite a few people in the car business and even those supposedly savvy and knowledgeable people, advised my to “not to keep the car for more than 100k”.

Bottom line is that the 8 is and going to continue to depreciate worse than to “similar” cars; 325-330ci, 350z, G35. This point has been made several times by people in the land of “Bush” as well.

Personally I don’t care about all this, and suppose that not allot of people do. I love the car and do not regret snubbing my beloved 540i.

mind you .. i got an 04 when the 05 were out.. so it was basically just "spring cleaning"..they (probably) werent selling that much back then.. now in 2006 i see 8s alot more...and the sticker price was 40K.. so it was 3K off (cash deal)..i would HAVE NEEEEEVER bought an 8 for 47K. NEVER!!
not because i dont like the car.. but because i dont think they are worth that much..

I would never pay MSRP for any car, even when they sell it for 10k off they are still getting profits!, imagine if u pay an extra 10k for it!! But if you want a new model year car, ull probably pay something close to MSRP.

FYI tho, I live in toronto, Markham Mazda was offering 05 RX-8s GT for $360cdn 2 year lease during xmas.

Was this including tax? Are there any fees that you have to pay up front? (freight/PDI, air tax, security, first month's payment, etc)?
