Good Deal?

I have a buddy who works for Mazda. He's been driving around in a demo RX-8 the company gave him to use.

He has to return the car very soon, but said he can sell it to me...do you think this is a good deal? It would be a purchase directly from Mazda, by-passing the dealerships.

Yr: 2004 - MT
Color: Black
Price: $33,500 + GST = $35,485
Km: 11,000
Warranty: 3 yr / 80 km
5 yr / 100 km (Powertrain)

Moonroof
Fully Loaded (except for Nav)
No additional charges, just GST.

The car is in great condition and he's maintained it very well.

If this was a Winning Blue, I wouldn't even be posting this....cause I'd probably be driving the car by now ....I just don't like Black at all. It's my last color preference out of all the colors.

I have been talking to a dealership as well ...
They're willing to sell me a Winning Blue GT for around $40,500 (incl. GST)

I really prefer Winning Blue but I'm seriously considering this deal to save me $$$ or so even though I don't like Black as a color.

What do you think? Is the color worth it?

If you don't want it....can you hook me up? I'm in Calgary as well and have been considering the rx-8 and am quite serious at taking advantage of the 2004 rates available through Mazda

Admiral 8 ... that's a pretty sweet deal! I know we had a conversation on prices earlier and that is amazing. As long as you trust your buddy (ie he didn't abuse it). Like you, I'm stuck on Winning Blue ... but for ~$35500 even I could be "convinced" to drive a Black. Ha ha ... buy it and re-paint ... ha ha!

With the Blue GT at 40.5K, it's still a good deal! Glad you got our "Calgary" price! No Nav on the blue, right?

Blue: Ya, no Nav on the Blue GT, but I'd still have to pay freight.
I was thinking about re-painting, but who knows how much that would cost or whether or not that's even a good idea....I love to paint it blue though!

My buddy is a Mazda mechanic, he's a friend of my sister, I don't know him all too well, but I have met him enough times to consider him trustworthy. I don't think he would have abused it too much.

Orange: Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

He needs to know by the beginning of next week..damn, I just can't decide....color vs. Saving $$$???

I would never, ever buy a demo!!!...I don't care what the price. I don't know if you saw that video of an RX8 that someone took out for a demo ride, but the did a good minute long burnout at red-line. It only takes one drive like that to mess the car up. Buck up and buy the blue car.

You will still have to buy it through a dealer....the dealer makes $500 over the price provided by Mazda Canada. I'd ask for a better price. If you know the guy and he is the only driver then it's worthwhile....you save air tax, gas tax freight and pdi, plus depreciation.
