Going Calgary in a couple months...

So I'm planning on going out and spending most of my summer out in Western Canada (I'm from Winnipeg). It would be nice to meet some Calgary RX8 owners, make some new friends. I'm pretty excited, it'll be the first real vacation that I take from school in a long time. Any good rotary shops out in Calgary to get work done? I won't have access to a garage or tools.

Who here is from Calgary?

Well for rotaries, there is only this shop called RX-7 Specialties, but you get mixed reviews about the place. Check www.beyond.ca for opinions. But yes, we should get together sometime during the summer!

Hmm well I wouldn't be looking to do anything crazy (as I'm toying with the idea of buying a different car next year) but I'd like to get suspension/under body braces/bolt ons put on Will most likely need a new clutch/flywheel while I'm out there as well. The idea of me installing those on a residential street without tools is a no-no.

Unless if someone would like to help me I pay in alcohol/food

If you're thinking of just doing suspension, exhaust, transmission, etc, you don't necessarily need to go to a rotary shop to get the work done. Any of the bigger established tuner shops can get that stuff done for you --> Tunerworks, Speedtech, Quality Transmissions (for transmissions ).

Nice, that's what I'm looking for How about places for Autobody work (might get it done before I leave) front bumper + side of orbital buffer = lots of touch up paint. (I'm just thinking what else I want to get done this summer) Lets see my plans for the 8 this summer are: Just listing them, someone double check and make sure I don't need any rotary specialist shop to do any of them (I think maybe just the ignition, but I'm not 100% sure)
High flow cat + resonator in midpipe (hopefully done before I leave)
Mazsport Ignition upgrade (done by shop)
RB Intake/screens/ECU reflasher (done on street? should be possible? as I don't need to jack up the car)
clutch/flywheel (left done to professionals for sure)
Catback/shocks/springs/bars/underbody braces (shop)
Rotors/pads (done before I leave)

What is the typical shop rate out in Calgary?

Thanks BlueFrenzy

ps. don't you have Jazz in your avatar? Wouldn't he be an autobot? :p

Haha...back a few years ago when I was more involved with the Nissan guys, I organized many meets.

I'm sure I can get something organized, just give me a couple weeks to scope out some nice locations when I get there...but I want to add a twist to it...just for fun

Daemos ... you can probably do the Mazsport Ignition yourself. Just need a set of tools and some time (about 2 hours). It's "simply" plug and play. If you know how to get at your coils, coil wires and spark plugs then you should be ok to do it.

For autobody work ... Screaming Paintworks, Low Cost auto (or something ... the one that Rotten42 uses). As to the shop rate ... 100-120/hr??? (I can't remember exactly)

PS. Jazz is my fav Autobot ... but I like Decepticons better. So I'm kinda contradicting myself. Jazz was actually the reason I found out about the RX8 ... back in 2003, they made an announcement that Transformers were going to be made in the image of real cars (ie Alternators/Binaltech line) --> anyways I found out that Jazz was going to be some car called the rx8. When I saw the Flash promo of Jazz turning into the RX8, it was love at first sight.
