Hi. I have a 2004 RX-8, which I am the second owner of. I bought it 3 years ago from a Suburu dealer. The previous owner was the friend of the salesman I bought it from. Anyways, I thought all the warranty had transferred over. But when I was at the mazda dealer yesterday, I was told there was extended warranty, but it was still under the previous owner's name. I called Mazda Canada to see what they could do, and was told I need to contact the previous owner. So I contacted the salesman, but received news that the previous owner passed away three months ago. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any way to get the extended warranty transferred over still, or am I just out of luck?

To add, the reason I found out about the extended warranty, is due to an engine vibration my RX-8 has. The dealer said its probably the engine mount, and if I did have the extended warranty, it would be covered. Anyways, if anyone could give me some advice, I would appreciate it.

 

I believe you just fill in the card in your owners manual and send it in. thats all I have done, although I havent been in for warranty work yet.

 

when i purchased my car a few months later i had to replace the drl. the previous owner had purchased the extended warranty all i had to pay was a transfer fee of $40 the dealer did all the paper work which took no less than 5min.
