I'm interested in knowing what you think of Mazda's Extended Warranty (Protection PLan) and if you have purchased one. Also were you able to get it discounted.

I received some coupons in the mail from Mazda that had 15% off accessories & 10% off Protection Plan.

I'm sure people will have different opinions, but I thought it was no big deal to purchase the six year bumper to bumper. I negociated a discount off the MSRP for a GT with Sunroof that was pretty much the cost of the warranty.

If I sell the car after 4 years, it'll be worth the extra 1600 (or whatever it was). The warranty prices are pretty much fixed, so discounting comes off the purchase price of the car.

 

I went with a 7 year bumper to bumper... no discount on the warranty, but did negotiate down the MSRP as well. I also got the parts/accessories discount (that might be standard for their sales)

I also considered extending the warranty at a later date than sale, but Mazda appears to be bumping up the prices every few months.

Some peace of mind with the new engine and all.
