Porsche and Lotus are my favorite car companies... Guess I will wait for next year, thanks for the update.

I'm surprised I didn't see you guys there. I would have thought we'd bump into each other.

That was my first time at that show and I have to say I really wasn't all that impressed. I hear this is the show where you see all the concepts, and maybe there just weren't that many concepts this year but knowing what I know now, I could definitely wait for the Toronto show.

The floor space is actually less than that of the Toronto show so it was really packed with people. Walking around was no fun.

Also you know how at the show here there are ice cream stands all over? There they have fudge stands. Crazy!!

The highlight of the show for me was the brunette at the Lambo booth. I was in love with her.

Alot of plastic inside. I know it has a great engine, but not something I would want to spend money on.
If I was looking at a car in the price range I would seriously give the Audi A4 or the Audi TT a good look.
I was hugely impressed with Audi!

Hyundai?!?! They make cars??? lol
And BMW will probably over-price the 1-series in Canada just like the STI.
And I'm sure the new EVO will repeat the trend.

I still hold out hope for a new RX-7

qtwre,

This year was a little down as opposed to last year. You can feel it when you walk in. The engery wasn't the same.
I'm gonna stop going to autoshows from here on in. I'm moving into another car at the end of this year so I won't be seeing any cars for awhile.
I was still very impressed with the Taiki and Furai. That was worth going to see.
Not to mention an upclose look at the restyle of the RX-8.
The brand that really did it for me this year was Audi. I didn't know it was going to have such a big impact.
I know what you're saying about the lambo girls. 1 of them looked alot like Alessandra Ambrosio. The other one was kinda cute too.
The Italians always have the nicest girls.

TheChad,

Of course they'll over price the 1 series. It's been like this for awhile. And I doubt it'll change.
Same goes for the Evo.

If you're seriously looking into getting a new car like that, I think it's better to bring it over directly from the States. Save yourself the 10-15G's.

Did anyone ask about the M3 CS and CSL, and if those type of derivations are going to make it the 1 series like rumor had it.

You have to remember the people working the autoshow only know what's available on the floor. They are paid to memorize scripts and to look pretty.
They are not insiders. Nor do they know anything about upcoming models.
Rumors are just that, rumors. These people are basically baby sitters. Making sure the people don't do too much damage to the vehicles.

One really awful trend I've been noticing is the increasing power and weight of every new generation. Just look at the BMW M3. That thing is just a pig! And it comes with all sorts of gadgets. You can't just fire the car up and drive. You have to sit there and tinker with that awful iDrive control. You can't eve adjust the stereo without looking at that damn system!

The GT-R is another victim of this. Although, the Japanese did include a few more buttons than the BMW. But the result is the same. You have to look at that damn screen to make the car do anything.

In my opinion, you shouldn't bother with the 1 series. Apart from the fact that it looks scared all the time, the interior is not worth the price you're paying. And you know BMW Canada is going to mark this puppy really high.

It's hard to pick a decent car now a days. So many gadgets.

^ agreed 100%. Sadly allot of this is due to the demands of the North American Market, which seems to be obsessed with numbers rather then feel/communication.
When Evo did their greatest M cars of all time the new M3 came in, 5th (with a note that the feeling is definitely gone):

In my opinion
BMW have lost their original ethos.
Porsche is still somewhere near the ball.
Lotus is going to be pure for a while.

Funny thing is that there are enough enthusiasts out there to justify somebody building a pure car, yet the accountants are hesitant.

Totally not feeling the new RX8 design.. Doesn't look good at all. Is Mazda deliberately copying S2000 design?? Ap2 S2k changed to led taillights so the new 8 has to have them?

Other than that... I think one of Mazda's new inspiration is Transformers..

Once again we get screwed with prices about $10-15K higher than the US (STI, EVO).
I really don't see how they can get away with this since it's the first EVO available in Canada. I can understand a car that's been available for years.....a sudden price drop on a new car would make off-lease/used cars over-priced.

Same for the 1 series. A car that's entirely new and yet CDN pricing will not be in line with the US.
