Dealer's never heard of high-revvs?
Hi guys,
I apologize for the "re-post" of something that's currently going on in the "RX-8 Discussion" forum, however, I wanted to start a post here with your experiences of dealers in Canada that have never heard of "high-revving" or "redlining". I'll start...
As you guys know I go to Erin Mills Mazda which I believe has the best service by far of all the other Mazda dealers in Mississauga, however, today, I went to Ontario Mazda, which is by my work cuz I had to ask something from them. When I was talking to the service manager there, I asked him this question, and his response was: "In my 27 years at Mazda, I have never heard of redlining, or high-revving the motor"....he doesn't think it's good. I asked him if he knew of the beep lol, he said he did, but he didn't imagine that going that high was good. In the other post, I asked the dude with the original brochure from Mazda HQ that states that high-revving is good occasionally or something like that to attach it so we can print it and show the dealers. You guys experience this, and what are your thoughts?
Thanks and God Bless you guys!
Ben.

Trust me some of these techs don't know jack **** about rotary engines......They prob don't know that Carbon will build up if you don't drive it aggressively.......Do some research you will see that people who are in the know...All these guys care about is the code that you are getting when they hook up your 8 to their diag machine

This frustrates the hell out of me. Where are all the mazda mechanics that are car enthusiasts? The ones that really love cars and know the flagship vehicle? You'd think they'd know all this and more. God forbid (no offense Ben), they'd actually drive a mazda or even an rx-8 of their own. If they were even a little in tune with the crowd, you'd think they'd know a lot about redlining, good or bad. Whatever huh?
Red lining
Most people do not understand the rotary engine design, You can run these engines at 8000 rpm all day and would not hurt it.
I red line mine at least a dozen times when I am out in it.
Make sure your oil level is where it should be to keep the rotor tips well lubricated.
Have fun and enjoy the rx8 for what is is build for.
Exhillerating performance and no gas milage.
Cheers,
