Dealer won't honour TSB!!

So, as many of you know, 04 RX8's (and maybe others) are prone to driver's side rattles coming from the airbag on the steering wheel.

There is a US TSB on the issue 08-004/04.

Mine has been rattling for a couple of months now and is getting worse. Unless i'm on new pavement on the highway, my car sounds like a 10 year old neon (no offence to neon owners).

Here's the glitch, the TSB has not been issued in Canada, so my dealer (Downtown) won't honour it.

WTF?! The car was made at the same place as the US ones, and we're not talking exhaust here or tire pressure monitors, where there is a difference between Canadian and US cars.

Anyone run into this issue? Have you found a dealer who will do the fix? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Blue Beach

Call other dealers perhaps?
That's what I would suggest.
See if someone else is willing to honor it.
I mean, if it wasn't issued in Canada, I wouldn't expect a dealership to honor it, if they received zero paperwork on it.

don't you typically have a one year grace period to have a TSB addressed?

Anyway, I'm not really sure.

Good luck.

find a piece of 1/4" fuel line. Wedge it in there, in the gap on top of the wheel. That fixed 99% of my steering-wheel rattle. Course, I have NO idea what'll happen if the airbag deploys...could turn that line into a missle.. Use at your risk!
