Rescue2

Hi,
My name is Rescue2. I am a proud 04 RX8. I was put in service in 2007 on a huge island. I was mostly dealer maintained but I had severe coronary problems and at about 72k km I received a heart transplant, but then I had brain issues and was sold off. The new owner drove me around for a little bit and I had a seizure at 104k km and he parked me in an underground parkade and left me for 8 years. My new friend got me recently, he took Dan’s advice (huge shoutout to Dannobre) and fixed me up. I got some heart work done and got a brain transplant, my transmission is still shot but he is working on getting me one of those too. I am a healthy 8 now and look forward to be driven like I was Meant to be.

RX8 Refuge

Dodo - I’ve enjoyed living so close to the local RX8 refuge. I think the dimples in the R3 will increase potential top speed. Especially once the swap is done.

In Cambridge Ontario

Hi all just bought my 05 GT 3 weeks ago. Came with a rebuilt engine with <500km on it. Still needs some paint touch ups. Replaced the Bose headunit with a quad core Android touch screen unit, all without a Metra kit using original faceplate.

I added the rear spoiler and the rear aero kit. (Blah blah blah the spoiler is not for performance!!! Its strictly so I'm not mistaken for any of you or vise versa!! Jks)

You guys looking for blue or grey cars when we all know damn well white rx8 are the fastest.

On a side note I'm looking for the front passenger aero flare/mudflap kinda thing if anyone has one black would be awesome.

Got the faceplate/harness from Crutchfield for my '05, but I am wondering which head unit you got? Does it enable the steering controls?
Cheers,
Frederic

I've since sold my rx8 someone made an offer I could not say no to.

The deck is just some cheap chinese touch screen cost me 80$. The face plate i used the oem one and cut it to fit the deck then just used a piece of wrap to smooth out the cut part. The circuit board that's attached to the face plate needs to be relocated to the glove box by extending all the wireing and everything will work. Except the wheel controls but you can buy an adapter for that even the info center worked.

Basically I just put in more work to save having to buy the 300$ metra faceplate. Even with the metra you will need the steering wheel module.

Thanks for the info. Great help. I'll get the steering wheel controller. Take care.

What do you pay for premium? I’m at $1.63 on my last tank (Vancouver BC area).
I have only this car and a bicycle to get to work so have an even better incentive to ride more. Been getting the eyebrow raise more often when my wife does the finances.

Not sure what premium is atm (I haven't checked) but currently regular is $1.33 where I live (Northern Ontario). Premium (91/92 octane) is usuall 20-25 cents higher.

Big problem we have where I live is there is only one gas distributor for all gas stations. They have a monopoly, so every single gas station charges the same price so can't price shop and they can slap any price they want on it.
I used to cross the border into Michigan to fill up, got great savings there, but with COVID can't cross anymore.

You're rolling the dice when your CFO is giving you the stink eye... lol

I filled the tank last week and regular was at $1.18. I think the 91 I used was at $1.30 or so... 94 will probably be at $1.40 or so...

Yeah, see I live in the Soo and we pretty much have the highest gas prices around. They rape us 20 cents above the provincial average (I know southern Ontario prices are $1.18 as you said)
We royally get screwed here. And they are loving it more with the border closed as we can't just hop over into Michigan and grab the cheaper gas.

Ex-Ontarian here with a modified 2004 RX-8 GT! I had a 07 Infiniti G35x and 90 NA Miata back when I lived in Oakville and this car combines the best of both worlds with a 9k redline as icing.on the cake. Here's the latest set of pictures I got on one of UNC's tar heel blue parking lot decks, love the effect it did with the paint

Between the lighting and the light blue parking surface my paint almost had this baby blue colour shift effect. Kind of wish titanium gray looked like this all the time haha
