calgary repair (paint)
calgary repair (paint)
Much to my surprise yesterday, i noticed a couple nice scratches on the RX-8 which looks like they came from a key or something like that. after getting over my rage, i just want to see what the best way to fix a couple scratches like this.. I have never had to fix marks such as these, do i just use some touch up paint or is there a better way of cleaning these up? Thanks

Out of paranoia for myself, where were you parked in Calgary (so I can avoid the area lol)
one is about 2or 3 inches long and the other is an inch or so.. they arent super deep, but i wasnt sure who i should take it in to for a look..... touch up paint might be kind of sloppy looking. I dont know where it happened or even when it happended. i just happended to notice it yesterday....
I dont know a place to get them fixed, if you find someone worth mentioning please let me know.
I had a deep scratch in the passenger door last winter after a piece of cement flew out of a dump truck box and hit me.. didnt realize where until I got to work. Anyway, I had the car detailed shortly thereafter and he said he could hide it.
He polished the rough edges of the paint into the scratch and waxed it, you couldnt see it.
Now a year later you can see it, but its not rough, looks like a small line of dirt if you do notice it. Hasnt rusted yet, keeping my eye on it.
A thought, if you arent prepared to shell out for fixing..
PS.. I hate haters.. makes me want to mount a camera in the car that will pivot and watch passers by.. sorry for your misfortune

Who did you use to detail your car? if i could get it looking ok, that would be fine. doesnt have to be 100% gone as i am sure that would cost a fair bit more... i agree, you do need to mount a camera.... if i ever saw someone do that, i know i would rage....
why dont people ask you to MOVE before they do such a thing? Imagine that eating at your clearcoat..!
Anyway.. I dont know what detailing costs normally, they were recommended to me. $150 to remove the cement spray, 'fix' the scratch, to shine it up like it was day one.
Has the scratch reached the metal? If not, you might be able to clean it out yourself by using some Scratch-X. The thing with Scratch-X is you have to REALLY rub it into the paint to get the full effect. A weak little swirl n buff is not going to get rid of deep scratches. I'd buy a bottle, try it out and if it doesn't work, return it.
