Calgary ppl...
What's going on? I haven't posted in a while and was just wondering how all you guys are doing. My 8 is hibernating and quite frankly, I'm starting to lose interest in this car. But I'll keep it cuz its just not worth it to sell. Maybe some mods might spark my interest! Anyways, post some updates to your guy's car. Maybe it'll persuade me to buy something! haha...

SlowLude, good to hear from you man.
As for me, you know about the Accessport I got, just put in the BHR ignition coils and new spark plugs --> now I'm the zoomingest! Oh also got the Audiolink

Had a CEL last week (P2070 - causing major hesitation at ~6000rpm and again at ~7000rpm) after not driving it for 2 weeks while I was away in Vancouver. Managed to fix it, hopefully it wont come back.
I've been eye-ing mods for a long time. But there's nothing really worth buying for NA other than AP, hi-flow cat and BHR coils.
Having thoughts on ditching the car and start saving for a 16x. Since I'm due for new summer tires soon, as well as new winter tires. 55k km in a little more than 3 yrs so far.

Edmonton here.
Haven't lost interest at all in my RX8. I have really only had it since Oct but I did take it for a mountain drive from Calgary, to Banff, to Jasper, to Edmonton right before all the snow hit and loved every moment of it.
Having a 5.7L Toyota Tundra does help me out as well, otherwise I would most likely drive a WRX/STi over an RX8 if I could only have one vehicle.

Not in Calgary any more, but the RX8 works well in winter =D after hearing from someone at the last meet about DSC sometimes being a hindrance in the winter I fully agree, I found that sometimes DSC is a little too aggressive when trying to go from a start, but turning it off for a little bit then turning it back on seems to work very well =)
Although I don't think i'd want to leave DSC off on any of the major roads =D
0 issues to report so far.
Although I do agree with you in losing interest in the car, the problem is there isn't any other car that is as fun...although the car I would really like to have is a 911 C4S (which sadly with a 3.8L 380hp engine gets better fuel millage than the RX8 lol)=D but that'll have to wait until I make much more money haha.
I'm finding I enjoy the 8 a lot more now that gas is 'cheap' that and since coming back I put on less than 1/3 the weekly millage, make more money, and have far less expenses =D Downside is RX8 is slower now as I'm gaining weight due to all the times I go out to eat now =(

Quite the contrary... I need more mods! Every since I had the baby last year, I hardly drive the car. Maybe once every 2 weeks during the summer and now, it's stowed away. In fact, I enjoy driving the MDX more since its big and comfortable and handles any weather. Maybe I need to get some mods, but spending $ on mods doesn't make any sense to me anymore. Argh... I hope my investments will make me some money so I can get mods later...

but even though mods are a depreciating commodity, they will add big smile to your face every time. I recommend getting a snail for the car =D

Looks like you've come a long way in a short while! What's the Audiolink do? What's the difference with the coils and plugs?

Negative. Can't afford to park downtown Calgary. Weekend usually out with wife and child in the SUV. Otherwise, I'm a firm believer in driving this thing all year round. ('Cept I think the body kit would be destroyed with this amount of snow...)

enjoying driving it this winter because it is soooooo much fun in the snow! RWD is the way to go in the winter! Both my other cars (awd and fwd) seem to understeer too much in the snow but in the 8 you can just power oversteer so easily in the snow if you want to (with dsc turned off, of course). It is a bit bad now since the snow are starting to melt and makes ruts which causes the snow to scrape the bottom of the car, especially in the residential streets.

That was fun...
I keep going back and forth on a kit...and on warm days like we are having this week. I'm glad I have no kit. I was plowing like crazy on the small slushy streets. Eventually got stuck in the middle of a hill and stalled. Had to reverse all the way down the hill...and try again applying more gas and speed, I was sure that black lip thing would be ripped off. Luckily it didn't.
The cost/return for NA just suck too much...

Audiolink lets you connect your iPod to the stereo ... I've always found it annoying that I had to use burned CDs if I wanted to listen to a variety of stuff.

Yeah.. love driving this car around in the snow! You can do some major drifting just make sure you don't slide into someone's house!
I need to make some maintenance mods... like coils and plugs and fix that stupid DRL. Man, so much money to spend on this thing!!

Well this my 3rd year with my 8, but my very first driving it in the winter. I had 0 issues as well apart from getting any of the recalls done and regular maintenance. I have a body kit, and mine is lowered as well, but driving in the snow has been fun...although winter tires are a must...I still love my 8, and I love driving it and hearing my Borla exhaust!! My next car will be an SUV but I will be keeping mine for a long, long time...

I LOVE dirving my rx8 in the snow...The amout of easy and controllable drifting you got is amazing.
The car is fine when you drive slow and careful with snow tire.
The car is FUN when you go a little bit more adventureous...
This car demands to be driven man...go drive it more!

Hey Slowlude, I honestly dont suggest power mods, but I have been having fun with my tires, "coilovers", swaybars, short shifter. Do u know the exit from crowchild to bow trail west, I usually take >80 km/hr on that with accelerating. Its fun, trust me!

Hey Phil, I gotta check out your kit! You got some pics? So why don't you suggest any power mods? I am considering just going FI... don't want to waste a few hundred here and a few hundred there for a few HP gains.

Hey guys!
i am embarrassed to say i almost forgot my password.... yeah.. its been that long. I have a commuter car now and parked my 8 for the winter. So sad. I saw one today while on a break at work and almost shed a tear.. i miss my girl! Hows everything going, we all getting around in this snow? i dont know if i would be able to get out of my neighborhood, the snow is just too high on the roads.. anyone lose a bumper? hope not!
i bought a code reader just after Christmas, very handy.. 8 is fine, commuter is fine, SUV is NOT FINE.. paid for itself already!
any spring meets on the mind? i am itchy.....
