Bored In Vancouver!
Hey guys, I think Vancouver has the most boring RX8 population... I see so many meets and stuff for all the other major cities, but Vancouver has none...
So what do you say? Any of you interested in meeting up? I know the last few times didn't work out so great... But what the hell... Let's give it one more try? Any of you interested?

I'd be interested...
I've tried to come out to the previous two or three since I bought the 8, but the dates kept changing, or I had to work.
You need critical mass to make this work. I say, pick a regular place and time (like, say every 2nd Friday of the month at 7:30 PM at the Richmond Best Buy lot), and spread the word. Rain or shine. Use the boards to announce it, and then someone take it over and e-mail/text people.

For a newbie, I would be interested in going to the meetings if there is good opportunity for learning things such as: how-to do car maintenance yourself like oil change, brake rotor painting, or any topic in the DIY section.

okay. Well... we have a few positive responses. I do like YT1300's idea of regular meets.... what do you guys think? And would you guys prefer weekday evenings? Or weekend morning/afternoon/evening?
What if it was like the first Tuesday of every month at 8pm? Does that work? Or does that conflict with TV shows?

Wait until your GF becomes a wife, and then your Fridays suddenly take on a whole different light... <checks to make sure wife isn't reading over shoulder>
Seriously, though, just making a regular meeting date makes planning a lot easier. I'd recommend doing it in the early evening - something about a bunch of people in sports cars congregated in Vancouver gets other people quite nervous late at night.
I suggest exactly what I've already said before:
First Friday of every month, 7:30 PM, Lansdowne Centre Best Buy lot.

Awesome Eldon, glad someone is trying to keep it going, hopefully if I find more people out here in Kelowna, then we can plan meets with a drive from 2 cities

OK, so there seems to be interest. How about then, gents and ladies (probably more accurate just to keep it at "gents", though I might be wrong)?
The time and location worked for people last time. Nothing happened on the 3rd.

If you guys plan on doing something in December on a weekend, PM and let me know. The wife and I are planning to visit the Vancouver area for a few days just to relax, so I don't mind swinging by and hanging out with you guys for a bit.

I saw someone in the Vancouver area with a black 8 the last weekend in September. Has some mods by the sound of it. I was driving a white 8 - we basically looked like photo negatives on one another.
I'd come to Vancouver for an 8 meet if it was on the weekend. I have a Nexus pass so going across the boarder is a snap. I also have Canucks season tickets - hence the Nexus pass.

Sunday AMs, for those so inclined, tend to be filled with any number of religious obligations.
I'm still open to other days - but I highly doubt many would drive on a weekday PM for a short meet if they work the next day.

I wouldn't know anything about when religious obligations might end...
Food sort of depends on where we want to meet. I also don't know how packed lots are going to be this time of year at malls, etc., seeing as how people are starting their holiday shopping, on Sunday afternoons.

I think as long as we don't meet the weekend before, or two weekends before christmas, we'll be fine with parking. People just SAY they're starting their holiday shopping. They've only started TALKING about starting their holiday shopping. =P
