Wink Photo opportunities

I want to establish some great photo opportunities ahead of time. Remember this is British Columbia, and besides being the finest place to live on planet earth, there are also some COOL locations to take pictures from.

Pictures taken from:
- Hells Gate Canyon
- Pictures of us racing on every Race Track in BC. :D
- Mt. Brew (I don't know... it just "sounds" cool)
- Kamui Mintara: Japanese for "Playground of the Gods" (This is at Horisons Park)
- Sunshine Coast
- Okenogan (Where Big foot is found... he could rent a Big Foot costume for some pics)
- Hope (Where Wolverine from X-Men lives)
- Boston Bar
- Elvis Rocks The Canyon - restaurant (Lytton)
- Golden Ears
- Fort Langley
- Fort Nelson
- Visit Kokanee Beer brewery (Creston, B.C) our official BC beer
- Lilluette Lake
- Next to some Totem Poles.... well, those can be photoshop'ed into any picture, woops, I mean... they are cosmetically "enhancing".

Well... not to be nit picky (though I LOVE the RX7s) the calender that I want to assist in putting together for BCRX8... is well... a calender of RX8s, I hope you don't mind, but wouldn't you like to have your RX8 in the RX8 calender? I sure would like to have your RX8 in our RX8 calender.

It is totally up to you though. I'll take pictures of your RX7 too, but please note: your RX8 is more of a guest of honor in my camera lens!

My 7

Here's a pic of my 7, single turbo set up 350hp+!!

Has been in the shop since I got it getting the inspection done, I haven't even had a chance to open it up yet! If its ready by the 19th I'll take it on the drive otherwise my 8 will be there!

Don't forget, if you're on this drive, your car will be show cased in our best videos on our future website.

If anybody is sitting on the fence about going, just remember we collectively will have 5-8 gigs of pictures and videos (I'll come back with 3 Gigs alone). All those pictures will be groomed for the best 100, then the best 50, and then we will "perfect" each of the best shots for color and consistency.

Can you think of a better trip to take rare and exotic "British Columbia meets RX8 pictures" this whole summer?

This will probably make the majority of our future Pin-Up BCRX8 Calender. - do you REALLY want to have someone ELSES car in that shot that your car was going to be in? 12 months people, that's 12 different RX8s...

June 6) Soulflare (maybe buying a walkie talkie)

Five more spaces left!
These pictures are going to be a fair bit more impressive then pictures of your car, waiting in a shopping mall parking lot, or sitting on your drive way...

It is a '92, its right hand drive, and yes its a manual with the single turbo and all the after market parts this thing has most JDM cars like this sell for about 16-20K. Not bad considering the condition of the car and the power it puts out. When you step on the gas it really pulls, much harder than my old Skyline GTR. I'd love to get it on a dyno to find out the actual numbers. When I took it out the first time the boost controller was dialed all the way down so there is much more there waiting to be discovered!

The car was built and tuned by RE AMEMIYA in Japan, http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/ they also sell parts for 8's too.

See you guys next weekend....

Yay! We have 11 cars! But we seem to only have 6 walkie talkies for sure... possibly 8... anyone else out there thinking about getting some? They're loads of fun! Great for this cruise, camping, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, or pretending you're a kid again and playing cops and robbers... (but this time, you'll be using real walkie talkies instead of imaginary ones).

Again, Costco has awesome ones... a pair for $84.99: Cobra LI 6000-2WXVP GMRS-FRS Two-way Radios

Let me know if you're not a Costco member and would like to get those. As long as you promise to pay me back, I'll buy them for you and charge them before the cruise so they'll be ready to rock and roll!!!!

hmmm... it's weird that every weekend this summer we plan this drive the forecast is for rain. Let's wait until Friday before we make any backup plans. You never know, if we keep praying to the rotory gods enough winds could change direction and it might clear up.

How dare you say that word!

I honestly don't know... I really hope it won't rain. i think it's still too early to tell. The weather people don't really know what they're talking about until the day of. (Or the day before at best). No offense to any meteorologists on this board.

One thought as well, look at the overall distance geographically that this drive covers, if it is expected to have light showers or whatever in vancouver, we wont be in vancouver for long...

I say we give it a go regardless, if the weather is too bad, we enjoy lunch in whistler, and head back, worst case scenario

I second this idea. Even if it rains, we can say we did a "little drive". We go to whistler, get some pictures (I can digitally remove the rain afterwards) Once there we can get a better feel from everyone see if they want to postpone to the next weekend (Sat or Sun)

I can't believe the luck.... but then... it IS BC.

PS: Eldon, please take a look at this link:

One thing too... The forecast says "showers"... and the definition of "showers" is:
Precipitation from a convective cloud. Showers are characterized by the suddenness with which they start and stop, by the rapid changes of intensity, and usually by rapid changes in the appearance of the sky.

or

Precipitation, often short-lived (but may last half an hour) and heavy, falling from convective clouds. Usually begin and end suddenly.

or

Intermittent precipitation from a convective cloud, generally of short duration.
(from http://en.mimi.hu/meteorology/shower.html)

So, I don't think it's constant down-pour... We might just get patches of rain once in a while? And since we're driving so far, we're going to get lots of patches of sun too, right? let me know if i got this right or wrong.

Next weekend, I would be unavailable anyways, and am presently unhappy with the service department which I take my car to, they are charging for one thing, then when the problem comes up again, they do more tests, then do more, and charge more, most unhappy, but I told them I have to have the car for this weekend, not buts...

Tim, where are all the pics from the BBQ?

On our future webpage, we're going to have a photo gallery. I think it'll be best for us to post it up there. =)
