SilverEIGHT,

Serial # is 5989. And yes, collecting these type of toys gets very expensive. You have to learn where to draw the line. I only collect cars that I really like or cars that have established something significant in real life.
My pricey models are the Enzo, F50 and my McLaren F1. Mainly because they're 1/12 scale. Also because they're very limited.
I was thinking of getting a 1/12scale Carrera GT. But the model only comes in silver for now. I would gladly pick one up if it came in black. I can wait...

Renesis_8,

I've seen a few of those R/C cars around. Alot of Tamiya cars are basically the same chassis with a different cover on top.
I remember a 787B model from Tamiya that was 1/10 R/C. I wanted to get one but they were pricey back then. I think Hellbreed has 1 still in the box???
I can't imagine what 1 of those will go for nowadays....

Why is it the 787B LeMans winner is running $120-$150 US when many others are in the $35-$65 range. Is it the detail or it's collectable factor.

I may get this one next:

Haha and i think an electric motor sounds like the real 8 more, now if i can finda 787B cover....
Actually you can get the electric r/c cars to go just as fast as the nitro ones, if not faster. Plus you can out accelerate and out corner.

I've had about 15 nitro cars and trucks, and about 10 electric ones. Plus a few helicopters and planes

Its two-turn brushless motor spins at 54,000 rpm to
put out 1500 watts or about 2 hp. Its 1.2-in.-wide tires
are wrapped around injection-molded nylon wheels,
which are suspended by titanium turn buckles,
aluminum suspension parts and driveshafts (blue),

and oil-filled shock absorbers. The car weighs 5
pounds, which is heavier than the typical RC car at
3.5 pounds.
This setup achived 111 mph (actual speed)

Just for the record, I wasn't describing a car I owned I once ran my 1/8th scale mugen buggy into my wife's leg at about 20 mph. Needless to say, she wasn't pleased.

neo, that Mercedes is a very nice (and expensive) model. Out of my range. I can see you are definitely going for the higher quality pieces.

The Mercedes was given to me as a Xmas gift. I really didn't like it at first. But it grew on me...
The 787B is a collectors piece. Part of the Signature series Autoart produces. That's why it was pricey. Probably the most expensive 1/18th scale I have to date.
The pricest piece in my collection is the McLaren F1. It use to be the F50, but Tamiya reinstated a few more so the value dropped a bit on the first production run. However, it's steadily climbing again.

I was thinking of getting the 1/12th Lambo Murcielago. As much as I liked the Countach, the Murcielago never really grew on me. Don't get me wrong, the car is very impressive in person. But I'm more of a Ferrari kinda guy...
That's when you learn to draw the line. If you don't really like the car in person, you don't need to get it in small scale....

Now, if they made a 1/12scale of the Pagoni Zonda F.....

Never liked Vette's. And I was at Mosport when I saw the C5R run... God was that awful!!!! Probably the worst sounding race engine I've ever heard!! Along with it's brother the Panoz!
Give me the scream of a Ferrari V8 or V12 anyday!!! :D

Wow, thats hardcore, 2hp/5 pounds car. lol..... well i dont have anything that hardcore, my RC runs at like 25-30mph max lol, but its still cool i only play around my neighbourhood, the first time i had the yellow mazdaspeed 8 cover put on, i had goosebumps when i drove it coming towards me. I dont own a real 8 tho =/

I received my #55. The quality of this diecast is truly amazing. I think they must have had a crew of men 5" tall building it. It is a work of art. Looks like I should be able to push the button and crank it and have fire exploding from the metal exhaust. It just looks too real!

OMG, it even includes a magnifying glass!

I have a question in reference to the Serial Number. Mine is #08592, which concerns me since there were only 6000 distrubuted worldwide. Would the serial numbers start at 00001 and progress by one to 06000. I have contacted the company I purchased from and they are researching on their end but something just doesn't seem right. I don't see how anyone could duplicate the quality of this car without serious expense.

SilverEIGHT,

Serial numbers could have started at 1000 for all I know... it would make sense to start at 0 and progress accordingly... but you never know with manufacturers...
Don't worry too much about the serial number... the important thing is you have 1!!!

The word I got back from the distributors of Autoart is that it was not a "Limited Edition". Even though I bought it advertised as "only 6000 distrubuted worldwide". Guess that just means the frist run. Wonder if that will make the price go down now.

Reaks of false advertising to me and I told them.

Well, you have to remember they're in the business to make money...

I'm just happy they made a 1/18th scale. It would have been even more impressive if they made a 1/12th scale... but beggers can't be choosers...

Yea, I think I'll just drop it now. I'm going to do a series of detailed photos and I'll post em here. I have a video of the 792P starting up. I think I'll extract the audio and hook it up to the base of my display somehow. Should be close enough to the sound of the 787B. Wouldn't that be fun, having a start button on the base?

Check it out: 792P startup

Gotta love those racing rotary engines!!

Still remember when they fired up the 787B! I was 3-4ft away from the exhaust tips!!! Never make that mistake again! lol

A friend of mine took a pic of me with the 792P driver side door open at 7stock. Surprisingly the people securing the cars didn't mind at all... quickly took the pic and closed the door... nobody saw a thing...
