3M Trim

I don't know if there was a post about this before. I've been trying to find someone to do the 3m Trim at the front of my 8 for some time now. I know Zoomzoom got it done to his blue 8.

I'm wondering how much it's going to cost to do the entire front. Does anyone know a indivigual that does this in the GTA ?

Ron Jeremy has this info. I'm wanting to see Ron's car to look at it in person. Just have not been able to do this so far. Winter is getting here quickly, and I would like to have a bra installed before the salt and sand hit's our streets.

Hey guys, my local guy in Ottawa is willing to offer a discount for 3m installation to a group buy if there is enough interest (I will start a new thread so that the powers that be won't lock the thread until it's approved . The only problem is that they don't use the computer to cut out the pattern. I'll be back in Ottawa tomorrow and I will go around to check out his work. Wouldn't mind a head count to get an idea tho'.

Cheers,

I spoke to two dealer/installers who have the machinery to die cut it to exactly fit.

The front edge of the hood and the front of the fenders is $230 Canadian

The nose is $330 Canadian.

They both quoted the same.

These are installed prices.

Cool Edmonton...

Found a guy in Edmonchuk who seems very good. This shop uses the '3M' films and the state-of-the-art 'XPEL' computer pre-cutting software- the whole front bumper is done in one piece!

The '8' uses 3 patterns, one for the thick film on the headlights & foglights, one for the one-piece bumper, then a third template of the fenders, hood and mirrors. I am scheduled for all three on Friday.

If you are in the area, and want a little better than 'a-strip-of-12"-across-the-hood', p.m. me and I can give you the details....

If the local guy doesn't want or can't get computer cuts and is simply offering 'a-strip-of-12"-across-the-hood' as the good Doctorr is suggesting, is it possible to order the product and getting the local guy to install it?

Is that Bob?

He is getting good reviews from two people I talked to who used him.
Getting the pre-cut is a really good idea. I saw the results of one install done with that and the fit is impressive. No extra seams or other messiness.

Xpel - 3M Bra

Pete:

- check out www.xpel.com ... local dealer in GTA is www.shieldpro.com
- he charged me under $600 (cash) for hood, bumper, headlights, foglights and side mirrors ....pretty good deal!
- unfortunately, the US company that makes the "patterns" did not incorporate the headlight washers...my guy had to "freehand" the cut-outs for these ...(long story short ...the bumper needs to be redone)
- others (like zoomzoom) are waiting like myself for the patterns to come in (for the headlight washers)
- I spoke to the dealer yesterday ...no update on timeline yet
- hoping to get my bumper redone in about 1 week
- i'm pretty happy with the bra otherwise
