Fine. It'll make me feel faster. There. You happy now?

Improved acceleration is nothing to mock! We need everything we can squeeze outta these torqueless wonders otherwise the Honda guys will never let us live it down

Looks like I'm going to have to hunt down some 18x8 rims as well... the set I was going to get now has a price tag associated with it Still... clutch issues first.

In terms of how things normally go.. I suppose you could say it went well (read that as nothing snapped or put up "too much" of a fight). The fluid that did come out was disgusting.... along with the amount of air bubbles from the clutch line (thankfully I was in the car pumping away at the pedal and didn't have to witness it). I guess I boiled it with the back to back hot laps last year :p

Haven't had much of a chance to drive it yet, but at this point shifting between gears feels much smoother, but there's still some hesitation shifting at high rmp from 1-2 on occasion.

Guess I get to swap out the tranny fluid and see how that goes. Fingers crossed again.

So the helmet I ordered in is going to be delayed 20-30 days.. Does anyone know if I could borrow a Motorcycle helmet from a friend and use that for the day? Or does it have to be automotive rated only?

aw man i was looking forward to seeing how sweet that helmet looked!

if im not mistaken im pretty sure you can get away with a motorcycle helmet as the rules stated DOT approved only (and not Snell approved SA2005/10 ... ) but double check the pdfs again.

Ya motorcycle helmets are totally fine! As long as they're DOT approved. It's a requirement for both drivers and passengers to wear helmets at SRTA.

So jealous c_ls.... What kind did you buy? I've been looking around for a nice, light car racing helmet too. Man they're so pricy....

I've been wearing the same black cheapo motorcycle helmet since my first time at the track. It's very comfortable though, large size. If you can't borrow a helmet from someone, let me know, if you're not afraid of coodies you can always use mine.

Awesome, I'll just borrow a friend's for the day then. Thanks for the offer

I ordered a Simpson Diamondback. Apparently they are backordered. I got it for a good price considering it is a SA2005 rating. It looks exactly like the SA2010 version as well.

I ordered it from Nextmod.

Will try to hit the July and August events.

A bit confused about the classifications: Do you guys look at mods / r comps v. street tires or is it just two groups A and B?

Thank you Chris. Looking forward to it!

We don't care about mods/tires Chris. We classify cars based on their stock form, only group A and B.

There is also a thread on MaxBimmer - you guys are getting popular - must be doing something right.

Hopefully it does not sell out before I can commit.

Rain rocks - you will learn way more especially if it rains in the morning - forcing the driver to be smoother and gradually dries out.

Actually the long term is forecasting a mix for the day is Sun and a bit of rain. Take it from someone who's taken advantage of that... it can work in your favor with a bit of luck To tell you the truth.. I'm usin' the force and am going to say it'll be sunny...

I've registered... the rest of you guys should nut up and sign up! You'll definitely love it.

LOL.... I still can't believe I missed such a dramatic season ending event... I'd pay to see this action in person... sigh...

Well folks, I promise you'll love it on the 22nd. You should all come out and spectate if you can spare the time. Rev, Druggist and cl_s, as well as the other 7 guys are gonna put on one hell of a show for you guys!

Ya, and definitely watch out for Rev. He probably knows something about the force that we don't. The guy seems to be able to call in rain or shine at will lol...

See you all in 7 days! :D

True, rain isn't a problem as I don't have slicks :D

I may buy a bottle of clear plastidip to spray the important parts. Other than that I don't think so.

Haha.. .so far my use of the force seems to be limited to predicting weather and the ability to find a destination without any idea of where I am. Once I figure out how to apply it to my car directly... look out. I will be kinda borked if it rains a lot though... my KDW's are DONE DONE. Heat cycled to oblivion.

Lol... the win was more dumb luck on timing then anything else. Steps involved:

1) Put on slicks after everyone else has already done so and hit their fast times for the day.
2) Curse the weather as it beings to rain once you've finished tightening the last lug on the tire swap (scream NoOOoOOOOoOOOo at the sky.. critical step)
3) Get one of the slowest times possible thanks to slicks in the rain
4) Have the leaders decide to hit the track just after the rain stops rather than letting the track dry some more
5) Get on the track when it's mostly dry and go through two sets of hot laps allowing the engine warm up / get the tires are grippy before going out yourself.
6) Don't screw up much.
7) Be confused as you go back to the meeting area and they announce you won.

There will not be a repeat performance this year I'm sure.

I am interested to see how much I can improve upon my time with the slicks in the dry. Even though the track was mostly dry when I went out for my hot laps, it was still misting and there were a few puddles. I want to see what times I can actually pull on the DDT. Mind you, the results will be off because I've installed the sway bars since then, but we'll see.

I'm really interested to see how CLS's car does with changed up suspension. Was amazed at how planted it was after the changes he made.

PS: I'm drawing mustaches on any 8's I see that get taped up :D

Oh... and if you guys are on the fence about signing up for this event, drop by and take a look at how everything's run and what not. I'm not sure about the other guys but I have no problem taking people out on the track with me (just bring or borrow your own helmet).

I know of one or two there guys who are likely going to be there spectating.. so... mini meet in any case
