I think I have the one you're posting.
Damn thing has never worked right. I've taken it back 2-3 times, and I still end up getting a defective torque wrench.

I've got to get a better quality torque wrench.

 

They do have them on sale for cheaper too once in a while.

 

You need a heavy duty impact wrench to change the tires....not that mastercraft crap....

We try to use a mastercraft at the track and it was major fail as it didn't have enough torque.

Don't know what you guys are talking about. The torque wrench I bought is 2 ft long and goes from 20 ft-lb to 250 ft-lb. The RX-8 requires 108 ft-lb of torque for the lug nuts.

This wrench is more than enough for tightening/loosening.

I am over 150 Lbs, the wrench is 2ft. If I sat on the end of that, I would be exerting in excess of 300 ft-lb of torque. I only need to exert 54 lb of my body on the end of the wrench to get 108 lbs.

 

interesting... i was thinking of grabbing a torque wrench and a jack kit for next year....

2hit6 was it this exact one you were using? I thought any old torque wrench would be sufficient for changing a tire ??

 

Strange...the "crap" mastercraft is better than a lot of the OEM tiny wrench and I have to use those on a friend's car last winter...and it worked.

 

Anyone can change winter tires just with the wrench provided in the car. Torquing it is doing it properly!!!

 

Can anyone confirm if the Mastercraft Maximum Torque Wrench has gone for as low as 67.99?

I went to CT @ Richmond, BC today and this is what I saw:

Mastercraft Torque Wrench 3/8" (not Maximum) for 59.99 (reg. 89.99).
Mastercraft Torque Wrench 1/2" (not Maximum) for 69.99 (reg. 99.99).
Mastercraft Maximum Torque Wrench 3/8" for 79.99 (reg. 114.99).
Mastercraft Maximum Torque Wrench 1/2" for 89.99 (reg. 124.99).

 

Are you sure it's 20 ft/lb to 250ft/lb?

The one I have is 30in/lb to 250 in/lb which is a max of around 21 ft/lb

That being said I have used it to take the wheels off and on and it works perfectly.

 

The 3/8" drive is in inch-lb
The 1/2" drive is ft-lb

The 1/2" drive is physically twice the length too.

 

Welp add that to the list of things i need to get too
