and what would be wrong with this guy getting charged with some form of careless driving? i mean, he even said in his post he was going too fast. and judging by where they were and what they were doing, his "too fast" is going to be well north of the posted limit. if you are going fast enough on a road like this that the majority of your car leaves the ground over a little crest like that, i think its safe to assume that the speed limit is not being observed, thus its careless driving at the very least. though this would clearly be a textbook case of streetracing when you factor in the cameras and more than one car.
Im so tired of following the rules and my insurance being so damn high because people do this sort of thing and get away with it....

Agreed, careless driving or something like it would be a completely appropriate (IMO).
Additionally, the Porsche made it over the bump okay. It is possible that his coilovers were setup such that it caused him to get air (eg. too stiff) while the Porsche didn't? If so, one could point to improper modifications.

Playing Devil's Advocate as usual, which one of you has never, ever, taken speed on occasion above the speed limit to enjoy the road whether 5, 10, 15 over or whatever?
If anyone of you says "I", you're full of ****.
Let he who never has "sped" cast the first stone.
You don't know the OP, you don't know other than his video about his driving and that could easily just been a part of a ride where he opened it up some with his buddy like all of us have one time or another. He just unfortunately got the unlucky aftermath of it. He wasn't racing anyone, he wasn't harassing in traffic, he did so with no one around except him and his friend and got the bad end of it from unforeseen changes in the road.
Should have he taken it a little easier on the road not knowing it beforehand? Sure. Does the crash make him a racer or another irresponsible driver? Well, considering he owned up to it, wasn't trying to race or drift, I don't think so. Reflect, don't be hypocritical.

Some of what is stated above is true, but there are degrees of risky behavior and the law has graduated consequences as a result. If two people drive equally unsafely, but one is unlucky and crashes or hurts someone, the consequences are greater. I may be completely off base, but that was a very weird crash, I don't think it was simply a matter of poor luck while traveling at say 20km/h over.

That car was so great, the suspension work that I've done was amazing, but tune for a track not a Canadian backroad.

are you serious right now? this crash totally makes him irresponsible. If he were totally responsible then it wouldnt have happened. end of
but yes, i will admit to having sped before. but lets be honest, 10km/h over the limit isnt the difference between a safe drive and catching air. this happened at well over the limit so your comments are pretty silly

I with Greg on this. As with everything in life there's a time and a place for this kinda thing. As we all know it's at the track.
People who are driving well over the speed limit are needlessly endangering the lives of others and they are therefore selfish. If you want to kill yourself.. that's fine. Just don't put others at risk. All it would have taken would have been another car coming up the other side of that hill where he caught air... you can figure it out from there.
The OP has even admitted to the fact that he's learned his lesson from this and won't be doing that kinda **** anymore. Lets hope some other folks around here pick up on that as well.
For christsake... you drive an RX-8.... it's not a race car by any means... and if you slap enough mods into it to get it there... chances are you're bright enough to open it up at the track and the track alone ('cause lets face it... it's not the cheapest car to mod). The other option is your a dipshit who got the car as a gift from mommy and daddy and still haven't figured out that your head isn't suppose to reside up your ***.
you know.... just sayin...

we dont know how fast he was going. we dont no if he was familar with the road or not.
i know a few roads around my house that you cant do the posted speed limit on or you will catch air or end up in the ditch.
recently one of my favorite roads has had major construction and reduction in speed from 80-60 because too many tourist found them selfs in the ditch.

Again, I'm not defending the op, just being a voice of reflection. I accept my risks when I speed over the limit whether 10 over on the highway, or 20 over on curves for roads I take everyday. If something out of my control involving nothing but my car and myself and the road, I know it's no one else but my own fault.
The op took the risk and he paid for it. He didn't blame anyone else but himself.

I'm sure people are upset and that was a pretty crazy crash. However, there's nothing that can be said that the driver doesn't already know.
It's one of those situations where one says "I should have stayed home today."
