Pic request

Hi Brian and Jonathan,

How about a nice closeup of the rotor faces so we can see the weird bevel that it has now.

Thanks, Brian

Question Will there be a spare tire?

I'd like to know if the RX-8 has more room in the rear trunk than the G35 coupe (which also will hold 2 golf bags and has a donut spare tire)?

Thumbs up Availability

Just heard from a good source that cars will arrive in the US between May15th and the 31st. That's what they are shooting for right now based on production start dates.:p
I would give this about an 80-90% accuracy rating right now.

[Potatohead hears a voice in his head]
Booming voice: Potatohead...
Potatohead: OK, who is this?
Booming voice: This is Jesus, and you've been a very naughty boy... How do you spell bevel...
Potatohead: What is a bevel? And where can I find one?
Booming voice: Nevermind that now. You must praise the Brians on the forum... and from now on, stop playing with yourself!
Potatohead: It is God!!!

:p :D :D

http://www.roadandtrack.com/reviews/...1_g35_data.pdf has info that the g35 trunk has only 7.8 cu ft of space. The rx-8 trunk will be almost 40% larger at 10.8 cu ft. The rx-8 should also be about a 1/4 ton lighter.

I sitll don't know if there will be a spare tire?

I believe that I remember boowana posting that the japan RX-8 won't have one, but wasn't sure if the ones coming to North America would ...

... Before the server crash there was a post that got lost about the the pros and cons of run-flats vs. donuts vs. having as spare or not on the RX-8 - so I'm yes, I'm still interested in knowing the actual size of the RX-8's rear trunk space and still wondering if it came with a spare tire?

The G35 coupe has 7.8 cu ft for cargo capacity with a spare. Where does the RX-8 fall?

Thanks, but isn't that 10.8 cu ft without a spare tire?

Hi Bwayout,

I'm not sure if you saw the "spy picture" of the actual rx-8 spare tire that Boowana posted earlier so here it is again:

and btw, i don't think Jesus would ever tell anyone to stop playing with themselves... love one another, etc etc etc... :D

Hi Wakeech,

I remember reading somebody commenting about this weird bevel thing on the trailing side of the rotor faces after looking at the Mazda display motor at one of the previous auto shows. There was some speculation as to the purpose of it but I never really saw a good picture of it.

Another Brian on the rx7forum posted the following picture where you can see a little bit of it:

and btw, i don't think Jesus would ever tell anyone to stop playing with themselves... love one another, etc etc etc...
Aww, you mean nobody here remembers the movie Real Genius? That was a classic line! :D It's all in good fun. I like potato guy even if he is only made out of plastic.

Brian

Wasn't the movie titled "Real Genius". Had Val Kilmer way before Top Gun.

Quoting the Car article:

"The engine sits 40mm lower and 60mm further rearward than before, the gearbox ends at the front seat occupants' thighs, the fuel tank has leap-frogged ahead of the rear axle and an inflation kit and Bridgestone Potenza RE040 run-flat tires have kicked out the full-size spare(although it is available as an option)."

Just remember, I am not connected like Boowanna. I'm merely a moderator who is facilitating by uploading info from him. When I speculated about the coincidence of the "7"s (RX7, on the 7th, around 7ish), it was merely a speculation.

360 degree pic

Hi lucky autoshow goers.

A picture taken from a mounted digital camera, positioned about where a drivers head would go. Take pics in several directions, or two 180/degrees apart if your toten a lens that takes 180 degree wide angle shots.

thanks and double thanks for posting to this site.

Actually if we are requesting photos to be taken...

Take MULTIPLE of you getting into the back seat including putting one leg in, the angle you need to be to get in, and then when you're sitting while a 6 footer sits up front.

I need a good idea because the seats in my car are *generally* all the way back in the driver's seat and I do like to have a tad bit of room in the back seat.

Thanks very much!
