Boowana and Sputnik are tag-teaming photo requests for the upcoming North American International Auto Show. If you have any special image requests like, oh..say..cupholder size, post them here. :D

Can we see some details of the nav system? I would also like to see more interior closeups, as this is the part that we will be spending all the time in. The most important thing is to get an idea of the feel and quality of the switchgear and interior plastics. I know a picture can't really answer that, but could Boowana post a thread about this? Thanks.

would it be possible to get some very invasive and brightly lit pictures of the oil cooling system, pertaining to the side vents, and to see if the front brake rotors have cooling ducts??

ummmm... i think ya, the tyres, and some IN THE CAR PICKS OF YOU TWO GUYS SITTING IN IT!! :D there's an idea... well, of course if you guys ARE allowed to sit in it.
but yes, i think some references to the relative ergonomics of actually using the back (and more importantly) the front with a couple of "full sized" adults would be rather excellent...

North American Final Colors

Hi all:

Here is a bit of early news before the show that I thought you would find interesting.

All of the colors depicted on the japan site are coming to North America with the one exception, White which is a Japaneze only color. I can't tell you why but that's the way it is.

I will check this site for information requests just prior to leaving for the show and wil do our best to answer all.

Just remember things like tires (tyres) are not always the same country to country. What we will be able to report is what tires are on the show vehicles.

Lightbulb Deja vu...

I coulda sworn I already wrote this post, but oh well, here it goes again...

A page by page documentation of the RX-8 brochure would be sweet. As would any information related to the packages they are going to be offering. Oh... and also, I wanna see what these 16" wheels look like, all I have seen so far are the 18's, I would at least like a picture of the dinky ones.

Color choices

I have been told by a significant person out of Japan that the mid-tone colors look the best on the car. What is meant by this is that very light colors (like white for instance) will not show the lines or very dark (I guess black) colors as w4ell as middel colors like titanium. I've heard titanium looks very nice.

Keep in mind that in the end, we wil all have idividual color preferences. Right now, I'm leaning toward Titanium Gray Metallic or Sunlight Silver Metallic, either with Black/Red Interior.
When i see them, it's always possible that I will change my mind.

what pics i want, if indeed it is possible

pictures of the steering wheel and gauge cluster (close ups and details) close up of the leather and seats, if the leather is like what it is in the 6, were all in for a treat, that stuff is beautiful lol, shots of the breaks, center consol, rear consol, stick, the ladise attracted to the vehicle (blahAHAHAHAHAHAHA), nav detail, sun and moonroof and the mirrors, wow, that is quite a bit lol

thanky,

RX-8 at LA Auto show too!!

The RX-8 (both an X-men version and a standard) is also being shown at the LA Auto Show. HOWEVER, it wil not be unveiled at LA until after the press debut in Detroit.

Detroit press days are Sunday the 5th through Tuesday the 7th. Mazda has a press breakfast scheduled on the morning of Tuesday the 7th.

I was planning to attend the LA show on Monday the 6th. However, a primary reason for my attendance was to see the RX-8. If the debut isn't until Tuesday the 7th in Detroit, my Monday visit will be in naught.

Boowana and Sputnik or anyone... do you know the specific date of unveiling in Detroit?

BTW, the presence of both RX-8s at the LA show has already been verified by a fellow Miata club member that actually saw the cars (covered) at the show yesterday. The covers will not be removed until after the Detroit debut.

At this time, it looks like the unveiling will not be until Tuesday morning, the 7th.

Hmmm... possibly announcing the reintroduction of a new "7" on the 7th? Coincidence?

Sound Systems

Quick_lude:
First, I think everyone will find that the Bose system in the RX-8 is pretty darn good and sounds great.
Second, I belive the modular Bose systems will offer the following choices (pick your favorite one):
MP3 Player/Panel
MiniDisc Player/Panel
Cassette Player/Panel.
:D
