Day 2 Morning

Hi all from the Detroit Auto Show. This, being my first visit as a “press guy”, nyuk, nyuk…I am having a ball! Lot’s of great cars, prototypes, interesting people but I’ve got to tell you; there is no doubt in my mind that the new RX-8 is in my opinion, is THE KILLER CAR AT THE SHOW. There will be 60 new car launches here by the end of tomorrow and I can’t wait for the RX-8 Launch. I’ve been to several other launches and some of them have been quite interesting. Last night at the Detroit Opera House after listening to a fantastic rendition of one of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits by the string section, Cadillac previewed a future prototype of a new sixteen-cylinder engine and car. (I have taken several other photos while hear and will post them some time in the future after the dust settles). Fantastic!!! 1000 HP and 1000 ft/lbs of torque! How do you spell Viper times two? After that, they stuffed us with great food and drinks. (Dammit! Why am I on a diet now?) Anyway, back to the RX-8

Later today, I will attempt making a short movie of the car on the stand for one full rotation. If this works, I have enough memory in my camera to maybe do the launch as well, but no promises on this one. These files may be way too big to upload to my good buddy, Sputnick. If we can’t, we’ll find a way to get them out later. By the way, some of you have been needling Sputnick for more info. I can assure you, he is giving you everything I’ve got so I would appreciate some if some of you would BACK OFF!

Met Jay Leno again last night and he really likes the RX-8. In fact, I told him about the press thingy in a week or so at Laguna Seca and he told me he wanted to go to it. I talked to some Mazda people and they assured me that they would get an invite to him for sure.

Well that’s it for now. I promised Mazda that I would hurry right back and clean up the DROOL I left all over the show stand. Damn near out of towels!!!

Later…

Oh, that's all been in fun. There's no problem.
