The 2 gents are finishing up their installs by this weekend so we'll have photos on the car. We're going through and documenting ride height adjustability and all that good stuff.

Nick and Richie have been wonderful to work with. Epitome of sponsees.

Thanks, Rishie

I have an event this weekend, so I'll let you know. The car won't be corner-weighted yet, though. I'll get an alignment done tomorrow, but it's going to take a couple events to re-learn this car and dial in settings for the different surfaces we run on.

I drove the car around town last night and this morning, and I'm pretty happy with how it feels. I thought with such a high spring rate (560f, 390r) the car was going to feel way too stiff, but I think it's absolutely acceptable as a daily driver. The car reacts more quickly, but still has a good amount of roll. It feels accurate and communicative, but that's on the street.

This weekend will be interesting. I'll let you guys know how the car feels.

Awesome Nick, gotta love the DOUBLE WISH/Multilink setups. They allow for such a greater ride quality than Macpherson dinosaur geometries.

SADLY WHITESHEETS/DYNO'S ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS YET. If you're that particular you might need to go with something like PENSKE, OHLINS, MOTON, ADVANCE DESIGN.....

If you're looking for a coilover with INSANE Value, this would probably fit the bill.

We're working on slight adjustments to the SUSPENSION THANKS TO NICK AND RICHIE'S SUGGESTIONS. I'll be sure to keep you updated, more should be landing next week.

I'd just like to know spring rates, options, adjustability options, rebuild warranty, general design of shocks and how the height adjustment is handled. I'm making the age old mistake of upgrading my setup a little bit at a time and spending more money than if I had just gotten the best setup I could afford to begin with.

Can you adjust jounce and rebound separately? When you adjust the ride height does it change the amount of spring travel you have or does it have a way to keep it constant? What is the warranty on the shocks if they break? Are they rebuildable? Is there a remote mounted motor control option like the Sustec or Tien EDFC?

A shock dyno would definitely be cool. I don't think I would have bought the Konis if I had seen the shock dyno first. They work well but I now know that I'd like to have jounce and rebound adjustable separately.

10k/7k spring rates
Monotube damper

Simultaneous Rebound and Compression adjustment, not independent.

Ride height adjusted from lower bracket, will not lose suspension stroke when lowering.

Servicability/Replacement dampers, even custom valved dampers are available. Replacements in US, Custom valving ordered from Japan at addt'l costs.

Currently there are no "EDFC" options available for Stance.

More info can be found here:

There are photos of the RX8 coils on the first page of this thread.

I don't yet have too much to add to what I've said already about the coilovers themselves, but I do want to praise Stance for their support.

The coilovers, as they were shipped to me, did not fit the car. The lower bracket had a bushing pressed into it that was too small to fit over the spindle on the car. Stance made new parts and shipped them to me. It took awhile, because the parts had to come from Japan, but the parts came with a nice little gift - steel cable remote adjusters that clamp onto the **** on top of the strut. The way it installs into the RX-8, that **** is inaccessible and these cables solve that problem. I wasn't expecting these adjusters (I had zip-tied fuel hose to the ***** to do the same thing, but these are way cooler), so they were a really nice surprise.

After I installed the coilovers this week, I found that the rears had another problem - at their max ride height, they dropped the rear of the car by about two inches. My tires rubbed (until I removed some of the plastic liner in each well) and I can't corner-weight the car like that.

I called Stance yesterday after noon, and they said they'd send longer springs to fix the problem, pronto. They weren't kidding, because the springs just got here. Now, I only live a couple hours away and they did send them FedEx Ground, but obviously they got them out the door within hours. I think that's outstanding service.

I just wanted to write about the excellent support Stance has provided for their product. Yes, the product had problems out of the box, but they've handled those problems very well and made sure I was a happy customer. That's a rare thing these days.

Thanks for posting up your information. Will they be modifying their standard RX8 package with the changes you had to make?

Anytime shaunv.

YES MOST DEFINITELY. THIS SPONSORSHIP MOST DEFINITELY WORKED ITS PURPOSE WONDERFULLY. CAN'T THANK THE GUYS ENOUGH.

CURRENT UPDATES I'M GOING TO PACKAGE TOGETHER BASED ON YOUR DESIRES:

#1. Lower Bracket is not an issue, minor mistake on initial production run.

As for options, Nick and Richie are solely to thank for this very important option.

Option 1. Approx range to be determined but I assume about 0.5" to 2" drop

Option 2. MAX DUMPAGE, range probably from 2" to 3.5" drop i'm estimating.

You will want to emphasize if you want CONSERVATIVE OR AGRESSIVE "STANCE".

Everything else should be gravy.

I am accepting orders but pickings are slim right now. We're waiting for a new shipment as well as more updates from Nick and Richie.

I DO WANT TO EMPHASIZE THIS IS WHY WE SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCT SO EMPHATICALLY.
***********VALUE WITH GREAT SERVICE IS INVALUABLE*********

STANCE TRULY STANDS BEHIND THE REPUTATION OF THEIR PRODUCT.

Sorry for the caps, just have to emphasiZE.

Here's a picture of the car as it sits now. The front and rear are both lowered about an inch. I don't think I can realistically go any lower in the front, but I could possibly get it about a half-inch lower in the rear. Remember I am setting the car up for 275/40-17s (pictured), so I think it's probably possible to go lower on stock tires.

It is on the taller rear springs (option #1 in Rishie's above post), and I have plenty of room for adjustment up or down.

I autocrossed the car both Saturday and Sunday. On the very smooth surface we ran on I was able to set the car up very well, but it required using certain settings at their limits, so I'm concerned about rougher surfaces. I'm talking with Stance right now and I'll share what we come up with.

That looks like a good ride height for 17's to me.

Looks great Nick. Let me know what you all are brewing up.

Do you know how much further UP you can go front or rear?

Thanks,
Rishie

I could go at least an inch higher in the front if I needed to. In the rear, I'm not certain. I don't think I measured. I would guess it's a half an inch to an inch.

I just wanted to post a quick update. I've done four days of competition in the car on the Stance coilovers at this point, but the car isn't as predictable or balanced as I'd like it to be. Stance has been fantastic to work with and we're trying to get it all figured out. When I'm comfortable with my setup, I'll let everybody know what it is.

Another quick update. After following Stance's advice on tire pressures and alignment settings, the rear of the car is still the limiting factor. I don't have a lot of confidence under braking and I feel like I can't get on the power quickly enough. The front, I believe, still has a ton of grip.

Stance sent me softer (6k) rear springs. Hopefully that calms the rear of the car down.

As I said, the front feels great. I thought the high spring rate would be too much, but I'm really happy with how that end of the car feels.

I have an event this weekend, and it's on new (completed in the past few weeks) asphalt. I'll post an update next week with my impressions.

There are a couple dents in the door, yeah. There's that weird one right in the middle and then the trailing edge is bent, like the previous owner doored a brick wall.

At least he didn't drive it much...the car only has 29k on it. :p

Okay, so we had another two-day event over the weekend. The course ran over three different types of asphalt, two of them being pretty new and grippy and the third being old, sealed and covered in oil stains. Slippery, in other words. Also, there were a lot of obstacles to hit, so I approached the weekend much more cautiously than I normally would. We ran closer to curbs and light poles than I would really prefer.

In short, the softer (6k) springs transformed the car. It went from unpredictably tail-happy to much more neutral. I was able to push the car like I haven't before because I wasn't trying to keep it from killing me. I could get it to rotate very nicely under hard braking, slide gently on higher-speed transitions and get on the throttle faster than before. It was a lot of fun. I was more competitive than I have been so far this season, and I still felt like I could go much faster after I get used to the car.

I think the real test is going to be in about two weeks, when we go back to the site I first ran the coilovers on. The car felt pretty good there on the second day last time, but was still difficult.

Again, Stance has been great to work with.
