Who Purchased The 1st Greddy Kit In Oz?

Checked with Advan Performance today, and the first official (sold through Oz distributor) Greddy kit is due to lob any second.

Apparently the order has been payed in full by someone on this forum, residing in Qld, so the question is, who was it?

BTW, the pricing is $4600 supplied only, but Advan can install and tune........ group buy anyone?

Paul

Good detective work i was expecting the delivery of the Greedy kit at my home today but it did not arrive .

The kit which i believe to be the first in Australia was negotiated by myself :p with greedy in japan and Peter Hopkins owner of Advan performance :D

Originally the kit was negotiated for myself but loose lips shink ships when the wife found out all hell broke loose and to have peace i agreed to at least wait till my driving court case procced hopefully succesfully , before i purchased another mod , being the gentlemen that i am i put Dave onto the deal i had negotiated for myself :D

The proud owner is Dave (ciao from this forum ) tHE KIT IS BEING KEPT A SECRET FROM HIS WIFE THATS THE REASON MY NAME AND ADDRESS IS BEING USED :D

By the way $4600.00 is a great price if you can get it as $6200 is the recommended retail price .

cheers
michael

I see......

I've caught the turbo bug again since I've been occassionally flogging around an APS modified MY01 WRX the past week......

Today's phone call was the first step towards becoming 'ONJOOC', the next step though is the biggest unfortunately......... (convincing the missus that I NEED the kit)

Saw the coverage of the long term use of the Greddy (Trust in Japan) kit on the AT and High power MT car in the RX-7 magazine from Japan.

They remained in a very low boost and did not change anything else . It work the wonder and get 70ps out of it (at the crank). Tested it is about 50-60ps at the wheel. The prices of the kit actually have drop a lot... Lock and Load :o. It used to be 600000 Yen but now 360000 Yen RRP. So it is about right for your price.

Will love to hear review and protential problem.

Nojooc, if you are interested in HKS you will be thrilled about the HKS supercharger too right?
I have more confident on the HKS tuning with V pro then the E Manage. But then again. I will have the E Manage program myself to tune the engine and certainly it is a bonus.

After reading the tread on the Hymee superchargers my wife thought it was a save bet to get me to agree and wait for it , knowing she had time on her side and there would be a chance that i may have moved on from the idea

As the designated chauffer / confidante / bodyguard for Dave's turbo project the possibly drive to Brisbane for the install is not very appealling but then again catching up with Dr phil , Les and YOU MAY BE WORTH THE DRIVE :D

cheers

Turbo Confusion

I rang Peter From Advan Performance yesterday, and there seems to be a missunderstanding
The price of the kit was $4900.00 and that was a one off for nojooce to leave his car there so they could do some RnD.
Secondly there is NO talk of a group buy AND the Rec RETail is closer to 7 grand
They ,as for the moment , are not looking at any discounted prices .
The price I got was due to the fact that there must be a poor guineapig to start the turbo BUG happening :p :p
I will get the kit going on the stock setup, then up the zaust and the BOOST :p

I cant wait :D :D

Ciao

Dave

Dunno, might have been $4900. Can't really remember the exact figure.

As for a group buy, I never said Advan had agreed to a special GB price, I was only merely suggesting in my original post that we should all organise a GB.

BTW, good luck with it, guinea pig! :p

Noojoc

Dave may be one off the early adoptees of the Greedy turbo kit here in Australia but dont forget our American forum members have been successfully running and installing the Greedy kit for the last few months with no known engine problems , some of the guys have done 10,000 miles with the kit on and have reported no problems .

I dont consider Dave a guine pig for the Greedy turbo kit but an early test pilot for the Australian cars hopefully one of Australias best rotary tuners will be working on his car and everyone will benefit from the results .

Superchargers and Turbos dont wreck cars but Drivers with heavy feet and incorrectly tuned forced induction units that are over boosted and pushed to the max for long periods of time .

cheers

I wasn't taking a dig by my "guinea pig" comment, merely pointing out that he is infact the first Aussie to undergo a Greddy upgrade....... perhaps I should have used "pioneer" instead? LOL :D

Dave

Paying $$$$$$ for the install and tuning will give you the stress , but think of the joy of the driving the beast

The biggest issue you will encounter is the wrath of your lovely wife when she realises that you have a turbo in your car :D

cheers

It is claimed these turbo's spool up from as little as 2,500 RPM. I guess that would be possible with a small enough turbo. What happens with the breathing over the next 6,500 odd RPM till redline? Did I read somewhere that boost falls off after the mid-range?

I see the new Disco 3's have a "variable geometry" turbo that helps with this, as it can by more efficient over a wide range of RPM. Perhaps the GReddy uses such technology

Anyway, I'm interested to see how the install goes, along with the before and after dyno runs. Perhaps that is what the others are waiting around for.

BTW, here is a picture of a "not so small" turbo, and its companion wastegate...

Cheers,
Hymee.
