There is a customer satisfaction survey in the Welcome Pack that they want us to fill out. At least anything we write in there will get to Mazda.

Just got a call from Mazda to ask the t-shirt size for the welcome pack - "Limited edition RX8 t-shirt"

They we're vague but was told they should be out in the next week or 2.

welcome pack

Got my car late July, had a phone call a couple of weeks ago to say they would be sending out a special rotary key that the dealer would encode but nothing as yet.

Got a book a couple of months ago but would just be happy with cheap accessories from some Mazda dealer.

Hi,

The postie just delivered my welcome pack. It arrived via registered post.

It contained the custom coloured key in a presentation box (I think it needs to be taken to Mazda to be coded before it can be used), a keychain light that is labelled Zoom-Zoom, a quick intro guide about the car, a plastic card with your name, rego, VIN and dealer name, a plastic tag for your keychain with your VIN and roadside assistance number, a welcome letter, a brouchure about the Mazda Foundation, a satisfaction survey with a reply paid envelope and a Jim Murcott One Day Defensive Driving Programme Level 1.

No limited edition T-Shirt?

Got a call this afternoon asking for my shirt size... maybe you get a shirt if you don't get a key??? I assume keys are for pre-orders only???

I got a T-Shirt from the drive day. Did you go to the drive day? If not, maybe they'll give you the T-Shirt that we received.

I just tried the coloured key in the car. The ignition turned on but the starter didn't turn over.

Not a pouch, but one of those flip open boxes that wrist watches come in. It is covered in leather and has that stylised rotary symbol embossed into the cover. The key has the coloured rotary section on one side of the handle, chrome on the other, and end of the handle of the key (around the rim) is a chrome plate etched with "mazda RX-8". It is quite nice.

You'll probably all have yours waiting for you when you get home (or waiting the post office).

No I didn't, unfortunately.

I'm a little disappointed that it is a defensive driving not advanced driving course, seeing I bought a sports car. At least doing the defensive driving qualifies me to do the advanced driving course.

Cheers

My understanding is that the level 1 course is the entry level course, and that it includes some advanced driving stuff...

Level 2 requires level 1 or a cams licence.

You may want to check the web site...

Also, I got a t-shirt at the Sydney drive day, but also got a call about my size for the welcome pack?!

After looking the nice key and box it came in, I've decided not to use the key. I'll get it coded so it works, then I box it away. I'll just use the plastic one they gave us for daily use. I'll keep the key with my Autoart 1/18 and 1/43 models.

Do you all think that's being a little too precious about it?

Heh... no comment

Must say, as great as the car is, hope the T-shirt is better than that ugly grey one from the drive day.

Finally recieved the call from Mazda
They had apologize for the delay of the Welcome Pack.
They said it will be here soon
I asked them about the rotary key and the T-shirt
The answer is, all the pre-order customer will get the Rotary Key, no T-shirt for us.
For the normal customer (no pre-order) will receive a T-shirt, but no rotary key.

For the rotary key, we need to bring it to our dealer with the code, so they can program it. The key is not going to work without programming.

Donald getting your new colour key coded is great but i would not place it somewhere so obvious as with my car models this makes it easier for someone to get the key and steal your beloved rx8.

I received my welcome pack today , though in place of the key I received another copy of the RX* book. Hopefully the key is still on the way.

Wow, what an anti climax the key is LOL It's bloody big lemme tell you, much bigger than the normal one. Looks spectacularly ordinary with the black insert on it too :D

Half blind from playing with the little blue LED keyring already too LOL
