Watch out for a new velocity red in BNE next weekend!
Hi all,
Been lurking here for a while... and reading everyone's feedback on their new babies... thanks all for sharing your thoughts.
Well I took the leap this morning and will hopefully picking up my new velocity red RX-8 end of next week!!!
My better half is away this weekend so I have no-one to share my excitement with... except all you '8ers.
I ended up going for cloth trim because I actually prefer it over the leather. To me the leather seemed a bit cheap, and I was not fussed on the plastic seat backs. The cloth trim covers the back and looks much better. Also, the plastic bits in the car look less tacky with the cloth than they do with the leather. I s'pose it all boils down to personal preference.
Cheers

Let your fingers do the driving
I rang around every dealer within a reasonable drive to see what they had in stock and when they could get one in and was flexible on paint colour. Was originally going to get silver... but didn't have the patience to wait until late October.
There is an allocation algorithm applied to each dealer... so some dealers have more cars coming in than others... and maybe some are better at picking colour combinations than others.
There are cars sitting on the showroom floor in Brisbane... if you want yellow, blue or black.

Different wheels?
I happen to drive by a Mazda dealer every day on my way to work. Parked in front is a Velocity Red 8 with wheels I have never seen before. Is this a new option?
I don't think they're as nice as my stock wheels.
Just wondering if anyone has seen this new look?

sco,
Did you get VIN & engine numbers off them? I'm not asking for them, just was curious if they were able to supply them. I am a little surprised you could get that car on such short notice. Although a boat load arrived 8 days ago in BNE.
Don't want to scare you or sound skeptical or anything. I have a fairly good inside knowledge of what cars are around. Red Leather Cloth M6's are thin on the ground - or are you getting an A4?
Cheers,
Hymee

I'm getting a manual transmission.
I only have a stock number. They are ringing me Monday with the rest of the details. The contract is subject to delivery by the end of next week (not an estimated date). It is also subject to finance acceptable to me... no VIN, no delivery and no finance.
If they are taking me for a ride there will be hell to pay... false and misleading conduct under the trade practices act springs to mind.

Actually getting the 8 is easy....Juz look around the dealers and 'beg' them for one!
I signed the papers in the morning last Friday...Went to bank in the afternoon to prepare bank cheque and collected the car in the evening with the full protection pack! How about that!!!
BTW, will be looking to bring in some accessories for the 8 in near future.....Watch this space!

Good day, sco,
I got a silver manual base model...Looked @ the leather pack but had the same thoughts as you! And of course the BOSE system that everyone from RX-8s and 350z has been complaining about. Not worth for a 7 seven grand extra...that's my view
I got the car in Southcity Mazda....How did I get it?? Well, I'm keeping mum but those who need my help please drop me a mail...Cheers!:D
RX-8 drives beautifully...I've never driven any car like this before...not even WRX
