Warranty work - sticky?

Had some warranty work done this week:

Engine mounts were replaced - has eliminated the vibrations at idle. Now back to new feeling! The mounts must have deteriorated slowly because the change was not noticeable until after it had been fixed, if you know what I mean.

Also the CD player was replaced as it refused to play many CDs; I was hoping for a replacement head unit in its entirety but I think they just replaced the CD module as the firmware is the same (9.53) - or the spare part has the same firmware as the original So no Auxmod2 for me...

Hey mods, how about a sticky for warranty work experiences? Could be useful as cars approach the 3-yr mark... I have to search deep these days to find out about work people have had done...

Could be a place for people to post links to threads about warranty work.

Will

1. Heat shield installed.
2. Start motor changed.
3. New battery installed.
4. Spark plug.... hang on that is not under warranty - part of my mod
5. Engine mount changed.

I think after so long now ILIV48 should give his list

1 Heatshield recall
2 Engine mounts

Very frequent high revs when driven.
Car is running sweet so far.
Interior is still super clean.

My brakes squeal... should I sell my car?

What happened here?

I have slight wear on the lower right hand lumbar support, the black is deterioating a little. Is this what happened to yours, if so I am going to try to hit them for warranty fix.

Cheers,

Gibbo.

I've had the usual recalls (one twice because they installed the heat shield on the wrong side ).

More straightforward "warranty" work (some should have been general recalls IMHO) has been:

1. Engine mounts.
2. Starter motor.
3. Battery.
4. Plugs.
5. Driver's seat rattle.
6. Console lid slides.

I've otherwise heard of guys having problems with stuff like misting of lights and parcel shelf rattles.

I'm ignoring the more US-centric problems like motors, etc. That seems to be much less of an issue here (lemons aside).

Thanks Kal, I put it down to wear and ear but thought if there was someone else who got away with it I would push the fact.

Cheers

Are you still trying to get me into trouble If I tried to type all of it I am sure my fingers would cramp up pretty badly

But I do know a good yarn about a really great guy... A good looking sort of bloke the girls just loved. He was a mountain of a man and said to be pretty darn good behind the wheel of a winning blue RX8

It's the sad tale with some of the following woe:

1. CD player replaced twice.
2. Drivers seat replaced.
3. Interior Stripped twice looking for many loud rattles & buzzes even Mazda noted as unacceptable.
4. Seized brake caliper replaced.
5. Leaking shock absorber replaced.
6. ECU replaced.
7. Fuel pump replaced.
8. MAF replaced.
9. Spark plugs, Coils & leads replaced.
10. ECU replaced again.
11. 2 Brake rotors replaced for cracking.
12. Battery replaced.
13. Starter motor replaced.
14. Heat shield recall.
15. Engine replaced.
16. 2nd gear starts to go week before RX8 Nats. Car spends most of Nats parked. 2nd gear lost on journey home!

Much screaming was heard, accusations were made and source's to prove accusations provided. A deal was done and all moneys refunded... And to ensure our strapping hero lived happily ever after an extra good deal on a brand new 'sun tan pleasure machine' was offered and accepted.

The End!

ILIV48,

Damn that it is impressive, are you sure it wasn't a Hyundai Excel you owned there?

I am glad the outcome was OK.

I am worried about the next peron that buys that car from the Dealer as a "As a near New RX8"

I just had my engine mounts replaced during my 20k service @ westend parra -thats probably the first warranty work my car has gotten since I bought it brand new.

I have to call in and make another booking to get my drivers side door rubber replaced - it kinda tore somehow and they'll be replacing it under warranty =)

Warranty Work

Had the heat sheild recall that's all so far.

But my drivers side door rubber near the RX8 kick plate is getting little nicks and holes appearing....not happy with this....so am going to go back and have a chat to nice dealer man. I have helped him sell 2 more cars since mine so he owes me! I tell him I helped with his floor plan debt and he was shocked I knew how it all works!

My seat is getting a little creaky and my windscreen squirters sometimes block...I love my squirters and so have to get that sorted.

Otherwise very happy! Sorry Iliv48 about all your problems....didn't realise you got a dud...how sad. Glad you are happy with your cousin car....least they share the same assembly line :-)
