OK... I brought 2 0.5W ones, and 2 throat ones so my wife and I can talk at the same time.

$70 for 2 plus charger... cheap cheap. It is nowhere as good as yours.

Now I have a spare 0.5W. In case someone wants it.

I told Willie (Elite-RX8) and ask him to tell Brain (Elite-RED- RX8) today.

They have very nice 8.

Will post pic of their 8 in autosalon today

I thought of some fun for the cruise.

..............

Hey do make a time and place to meet now.
Say 9am at outside Nunawading MacDonald (cnr of Springvale and Whitehorse Rd/Maroondah Hwy)

I will email the link to Carsguide.

EDIT: (xatnep what do you think)

carsguide is done.

Thinking that we have a lot of CB radios and 1 professional photographer and 1 self centred bastard (ie me).

We can get all you guys to wait down the bottom of Lake Mountain and xatnep and myself will be up on the route to take action shots. Of course, I can tell xatnep where to stand and not being knock when the car understeer or oversteer. It will be fun.

I think Digital will do xatnep. I only take Canan RAW files and I will alter it and convert it to large JPEGs and do it up in Photoshop as required (I photoshop the Red RX-8 a bit, can you tell?). It will be nice to have a 28mm lens too. Danielle (Mrs. ILIV48) said last time that she has a Canon 300D as well. Any chance to bring it just in case I need a 28mm wide lens?

I am excited... are you all?

Yeah we'll bring the cannon with us (and no that does not refer to a huge fart cannon out the back of the car)

Did anyone see the footage from Targa Tassie of the nissan understeer off the road into the camera man. Just replace with 1 rx8 and xatnep and we can make the news. You think your up for it xatnep?

I don't know about that... He's just as likely to post pictures of your bits and pieces as opposed to trying to put you back together again

Just remember our Taka is a little strange.

Ok I am in. I have 2x1.7W 40 Channel CB's I got from COles for 40$. I am going to get 2 Ear Pieces with throat mic's.

Also, I hate to hijack, but would you consider heading through the Christmas Hills, through Yarra Glen and then either onthrough to Yea or Healsville, etc? Reason I ask is that Christmas Hills are an awesome drive so is the run from Yarra Glen through to Yea.

PM him Andrew...

I am so thrilled that you are coming. We have not worked out the map to the Lake Mountain yet. From memory it is about 1.5 hours from Nunawading and we are meeting at 930, we can fit any route to Lake Mountain. Andrew, could you please be the route maker and leader (first 2 cars) of the pack? You have an 1.7W CB, then that is perfect!

Guys we are meeting at 930 so I won't be late. My wife will ditch us for a physio course again (hard working woman ) I have to drive her to East Melbourne at 830. I will be there around 915!

I'm up for anyone showing me some more good driving roads. I am happy to take any route to the mountain that will be fun. :D :D Just show me the way!

auzoom is your CB's VOX capable as if they are not then the headset with throat mic's maybe a waste of money. If they are not VOX capable then you would still have to press the button to speak meaning not really hands free.

Taka I will see you there at 9.15am. We do not want you there waiting around all by yourself besides if you go into Macca's it might give me enough time to score that Mazda Speed spoiler you knoe I've bee after!

The throat mic is MUCH BETTER than the normal mic. Since they pick up voice from your throat, they don't need to be that sensitive. And when the VOX thing is set to the lowest and I am reving the car .... no inadverdant activation. Perfect.

Also, the VOX thingy has some delay so you have to speak something first before everyone could listen... perheps go "Hey you..." then speak

EDIT: By the way... I have 2 CB now for someone else during the day, one with earpiece and mic and one without. You just need to bring a earpiece for your CD/iPod/MP3 and I have the converter for it. I will also bring a 2W one so I can do long range while I am taking picture of you guys up the hill of Lake Mountain.

I'll be following our route on my GPS'ed PDA. Unfortunately it's useless for guiding our journey as it doesn't understand the trip requirements - good RX-8 Roads. It also doesn't know the road names of a lot of minor roads outside of main city areas.

Would anyone complain if we met closer to 10am? I'm coming from all the way out in Melton, so it's going to take me a good hour to get to the meeting point as it is.

OK, glad to take point. If we go through CHristmas Hills, at that time of the morning it should be pretty quiet. This is the route I suggest, it takes in Christmas hills AND black spur and only takes an hour and a quarter:

-> Link Removed <-

Bugger about the Radio as mine definately doesnt have VOX. I might go and get a pair that does. So anyone else can happily use my sub standard eqiupment:-D

Cool... I think the route is supposed to be hidden from the cops. Now our route is exposed and they will be after us! :p just kidding. Rather than posting it out auzoom, send PM to each one of us that attending and I will print some for the day too.

PMed you.

Draco,

We can have a second meeting point on Main Rd in front of Alastair Knox park in Eltham at 10am. If everyone leaves SPringvale rd around 1/4 to 10 they should be in ELtham around 10ish. Strainght through from there.

I'll do my best to get to the Springvale Rd meeting point by 9.30am, I was just asking about a later time because I'm going to be at the footy Sat night, hopefully I'll wake up in time and won't be too sleepy.
