the one thing im most paranoid about is some idiot opening their car door on mine at a shopping centre, i had the car for 2 weeks and some moron did that while i was watching, luckily no damage was done.

I just park as far away as i can from all the other cars if possible, but when i come back there is always seeems to be a new mazda 3 or other new mazda parked next to it....

You're all very right boys...I second all your thoughts....just got to keep it / park it / drive it smart ......pity theres no friggin formula, fail safe method....yeah I guess you have to keep away from some of those areas...funny you say that, I also know a guy whose car wasnt found on bricks the next day after burwood, it however was found all cut in half and burnt.......

any way Im not going to discolse as sco said, what my intentions are, after this I may as well have none but if I shall stumble on measures, I'll post details....

Oh btw, what are peoples thoughts on the pin system...bit like in the wrxes, so when ignition is switched off....users enter say a 10 digit pin, on a small keypad near the break lever....?

Sco,

Living in Sydney you have a very high chance of being carjacked, or at least getting something stolen from the seat next to you while you are at a set of lights or something.

Wish we had a feature like the BMW after you start the car and move alittle forward the doors lock automaticly.

I to do the same thing on the highway, i make sure even my window is slightly opened.. I have been in a highway accident before and the worst thing trying to get out of the car was the window. The windscreen broke easier.

Regards
Phillip

Some alarms do have an anti hijack feature - they lock the doors when the car is started. I have this turned on in my Laser.

Any decent aftermarket alarm will have an anti-carjacking feature- Locks doors after few secs. My previous Viper alarm could be programmed either way.

Standard and aftermarket are two different things though Skyline

In south africa BMW and MERC have flame throwers for security due to car jackings. I forgot the details exactly but when the car is started after a certain amount of time activates a beam around the car and if broken lets out a small fireball towards the carjacker

Thats crazy ^^^

Im talking about it south africa not Australia.. Violence/Crime etc etc is very very common in everyday life.

When the car jack they dont throw you out of the car, they mug you or murder also. So its a peace of mind for them i guess.

Regards
Phillip

I prefer the "rabid doberman" or the "pissed off wife" in the car approach....................

This, my friends, is without doubt the best method I've ever seen to combat car theft. Unsurpassable IMHO....

Look at all these, but check number four first.
