Turning off Driver Aids gives you more power???

Hi all,

A friend of mine in the UK (who knows his rotaries pretty well) has been experimenting with his car.

When he turns all the driver aids off, i.e. Hold the DSC button in for 15seconds, so the DSC OFF light shows up and the skidding car light shows up - car produces more power. Must be something in the ECU that changes timing? fueling? etc.

Bearing in mind that in the UK they have not done any ECU reflashes as yet.

Can some of you experiment?

In this thread here a dude in the U.S claimed the same thing.........50 others tried it and said it was crap. Makes a good read though.

..... do you reckon. I think so.

That makes me wonder: What does DSC do to cost those excess energy loss in normal driving condition?

at the drag strip the difference between off and total off was not apparent. on to off gained ~0.8 seconds faster time.

0.8 second! I'll have that anyday! But I think it is in the launch.

I have noticed even an RX-8 with heavy wheelspin will get away quicker than an RX-8 without. Just ask me and Dragtoys. But I got him when he missed second.

Cheers,
Hymee.

thats right hymee. even with wheel spin the dsc off is better.

the launch on all runs was about the same, only the dsc limiting the power was the difference. no wheel spin and the dsc light flickering with one run; wheel spin and the dsc light off for the other.
I did about 3runs of each and my times and 60ft where all consistent (ly bad ).
