Truckload or RX8's spotted in Brisbane!!

Driving along late this afternoon, I spotted a truck load of Blue and Black RX8's in Newstead. It was coming into the city whereas I was driving out and got my confirmation only in my rear view.

The truck was obviously collecting the cars from Port of Brisbane. I was wondering what the cars were doing in Brissie when the official launch is not till the 1st of August.

Decided to give dealer a call who confirmed that the cars were the actual units that were being presented on the regional drive dates.

Apparently, Port of Brisbane is the entrypoint for all RX8's in Oz and they are all transported to the capital cities by road from here.

In hindsight, I regretted not following the truck, especially knowing i had my digital camera on hand but I've just been busted recently for an illegal U-Turn so that must have restrained me.

I was particularly hoping that we would get early deliveries. Which brings me to my next issue. Mazda confirmed that official deliver date is 1st of August *but they were hoping to get some cars delivered earlier*??

What I want to find out is how much earlier?

Well the people in Mazda Australia Melbourne office just went up to Canberra last weekend for testing the RX8...

It is not very far long... initially they said Nov for my car now Sept. I have to organise the finance sooner... bloody stock market just about to go up... decision decision.

Just hope it is not one of yours, because they are going to use the cars for track day

That is what I've been thinking too, are they going to take the cars back to japan or pass it to Australian customer!!

endless112, how was the blue one, is the colour striking or just dark blue? I was confused between blue and yellow!! Please let me know, what do you think of the blue?

Good point, fortunately, my contract of sale has a section that states final settlement is pending a test drive, so have a fully refundable $1000 deposit to hold the car. So if my car has anything more than about 10kms on the clock when I go for the test drive, then there'll be some explaining to do :D

Reason I have the test drive clause is because I'm just not sure about the torque thing, the space thing, the black colour thing, etc etc.. but hey, if I like it, I want it ASAP

Winning, I have ordered a silver and don't usually get excited by blue but I can assure you - this one stands out.

You won't be dissapointed.

I agree with you with the above.
I have spoken with the NISSAN dealer after I have driven the 350Z... about this $1000 refund thing... they said that they may have a cancellation fee (ie. not getting the full money back). ??? Any idea?

Of course they dont know I have preordered but I am not getting the 350Z once I had a feel of the steering wheel

I made sure it was fully refundable, then again, took the dealers word for it, so better double check the contract...

I drove the 350Z as well, was a nice car, but felt very cheap for a $70k car... drove it just before I drove an Audi S3, man that thing was sexy So if it's not the RX-8, it might be the Audi, or an STi, a friend has a MY03 and loves it.
