Top Gear and Fifth gear UK does laps... Aussie does drags
What are they on about the roundabouts.. what are their arguments? It gets boring, like most of my threads, when I had nothing constructive to say

I was laughing my *** off when they suggested to warm up the tires (again and again). Maybe I'm the only one who likes the show, but I find it is quite worth watching.

for a car show it isn't bad, but it doesn't get to the uk topgear level because Jeremy, Richard, and James are all such natural presenters while the .au guys sound like they are reading a badly written script.

Agreed. The non-scripted bits when they're on location suggests they've all got a decent sense of humour, etc but the scripted stuff is letting them down. *** in particular still can't deliver it properly.
I found last night's episode a little better. I'm still happy to watch it - beats the 7.30 report...

I have my lap top with me in front of TV and it is just finished.
I enjoy this one. 8/10.
IS that because my expectation is lower... the outback challenge is very well done, good picture, although the plot is little dull.

I'll give it 6/10.
Wow, Jack Thompson has aged!
I loved the lawn bowls challenge. Whack! Take that! Astra front spoiler...
BTW, their test track actually looks more and more interesting. They really need to demonstrate the layout though and where the fast and slow bits are in a clearer fashion...

Clarkson thinks money in the bank. Thumbs up for the TGA!

That is the mapping of the track. Dave if that track is interesting then Sandown is bloody Nurburgring north circuit

No problem. I was not surprised by it after watching the first episode.
Good spotting from Eyce the map maker though. It is hard to find from the Google earth even though you know which air port it is ... (what it was again?).
Stole the map from finalgear.com

I watched the R8 part on Hamilton and then said to myself.
"Self this has got to be the lamest show on TV. Better to go play with the RX8 than sit here and watch this drivel."
So I turned the TV off and went for a whirl.
That show is lost and there is no hope for it. Shame really.. They could have made an Aussie TG instead of a real bad copy and had a hit.

Hmm....I give tonight a bare pass. Doing the boat car thing, after TGUK has already done it twice, was as stale as last week's bread. And the treatment of that R8 amounted to smart car being abused by dumb human. The BMW test was at least something....but how much lighter really is a 135 than a 335, which they kept banging on about? Bugger all, AFAIK
I've tried to be positive, and maintained a mantra that 'any car show on TV is better than no car show' but sometimes I think I'd rather watch 2 blokes, a dog and a frisbee...

I have to say they come from a 3 to a 6. It is kind of an improvement. When the expectation is so low - I actually can enjoy it.
I agree with Timbo. I also think there is no substance in the reviews, both 135i and the R8. You can say a lot more and be a little sophisticated in the both Steve and Charlie's delivery would be good. They did not get my attention in the middle of my dinner, and what my daughter doing on the table is funnier.
I think the tractor part is very funny. My wife and I laughed at the reaction at the girls at the outdoor cafe when they crushed the front of the SAAB and wrote (draw) a note about it. Just they have shown a few angle of the Kluger. They should show it to the world. Only USA, NZ and Oz get the Kluger.

It's gone from a don't miss it show (i.e. the UK version) to "oh well, if I'm home and there's nothing more interesting to do, I may as well tune in..."
And it could have been so much better!!! Rather than slavishly copy the UK formula, they should have put an Aussie spin on the humour. They should also realise that one or two donuts can be amusing but 10-15 is really just catering to the blue singlet brigade. Mind you, what else are you going to do with an R8 on a flat airstrip - shots of it going fast in a straight line aren't going to last long - what happens when a promotional idea overtakes substance!!

From a "Phwoar!" point of view, the British show "5th Gear" is actually quite good. I enjoyed last week's segment on the 135i vs. Cayman - gee, the Cayman is a pretty car. I particularly like Vicky Butler-Henderson and Tiff Needell, both experienced racing drivers, and who seem to be able to keep up a patter while driving extremely fast.

Vicky got a big spanking recently from the 5th gear followers about her style, or lack of.
I really want to see Vicky keep going. Tim Shaw and Tom Ford has dominanted the last series. Where did you see last week? Foxtel? They keep pretty much up to date then.
