Now, where's my teeth again...
Having driven out to Orange via Bells, it takes bloody ages out the Windsor road which even on the weekend is a real pain in the rectum.
Dave over to you on viddles, I'll probably have a carful (or maybe just the missus...TBA) so need to check on "kid" friendlness??

Since I can't risk another booking for a while
, I'll probably bring the tribe too. So I'm happy to give your mate's cafe a go rather than go to a pub.Why not send me the location and we can nut out a route.
I'm also happy to take suggestions on departure meeting point (my preference is down the road from my place but I can see how that might not go down too well with some
).
Neither old wise one, just pointing out that the Windsor Rd bit takes forever. Lots of roadworks, best to go out that way and back via Katoomba.
Suggest we might meet up at the crapark opposite the Richmond Airbase. Sometime there is something to see, but good parking in anycase. Or the Macca's car park in Richmond. On the corner going west, next to the station.

Happy to meet up at the Airbase and since I'll have the mini-terrorists with me I'd prefer to avoid Macca's. Shall we say 10.30 there for an 11.00 departure?

What time do you suggest, given we need to be at Richmond airbase between 10.30 and 11.00?

I'll see if the missus wants to tag a long or I'll be flying solo.

Do bring the missus. I'm bringing 'er indoors and the mini-terrorists and I think Mike is bringing his posse of females, so it's looking like a family kind of day. Relaxed and cruisey.
Ahh cool. I wasn't sure what kind of drive it was ie. spirited etc.
I'll see if I can do some convincing. She used to occasionally come out on the 200SX drives.
Going to have to try and find my CB as well.

Dave, suggest M2 meet up 9:50am, means we should make Richmond 10:45 latest. Can we get all the cruisers to PM one of use their mobiles so we can call if we get held up.
M2 users to meet up at in front of the new garden centre just before the on ramp.

Good chance to demonstrate to our better halves that we're not entirely anti-social
(although 'er indoors says it sounds like I'm doing something illegal every time I rev over 4K - thanks Hymee
).CB's are a good idea - bring 'em if you got 'em. I don't so maybe I better invest in one. Mike, where'd you get yours?

PMing mobiles is a good idea. Send them into me and I'll also arrange with kunz to get you onto the Sydney SMS group.
Hey Troops, a suggestion from Robby on the other site:
"Heres a suggestion for you. If your gonna go down the new bells line of road, you should head all the way out to bathurst up to Mount panaroma!!!!!!
lap the track trust me. Its a HOOOT in the rx8. ive done it and i LOVE IT.
by the time you get to the end of New Bells Line of road you drive another 45min-1hr to bathurst.
You've gone so far might as well go all the way."
This sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
It'll add about 2 hours to the day though.
We could still leave as planned, have lunch at Lithgow instead, get out to Bathurst and do a couple of laps and then stop in at Mike's mate's cafe for afternoon tea on the way home.
This sound appealing or is it more driving than you wanted? Comments please.

I'll pass on the extra, used to be part of a cycle (pedal) club that raced around the mountain annually. (my missus did about 100 laps!) I marshalled.
Have had the opportunity to do quite few laps in different cars from my old MG Midget, XU1 Torana et al. It's bloody fun but is a public road so is regulalry patrolled and will be lots of other traffic on a Sunday arvo. (we had cb's to ensure a "clean" track.
Budget 2-21/2 hours r ound trip from Lithgow.

Well, so far nobody is exactly champing at the bit to lap 'The Mountain' and Mike's comments about it being crowded on a Sunday, etc are no doubt accurate.
We'll leave the question hanging for a bit longer though and see if enough people are keen. If not, we'll stick to the original plan.
