I am getting my saerter updrage done on Tuesday together with new headlights and brake pads. I am surprised they did not change the plugs sco. This is one of the main items I wanted changed after seeing photos of plugs with similar kms to mine on this site.

I will make a point that I would like this changed as my idle is rough after the last service.

xxup...I had Mrs skc's Mazda 626 in for a service so thet is why you did not see the shiny black 8.

Yep sco is correct. 2 x Red RX-8 cloth packs in on the same day, 7 VIN no's apart. Mine got the starter/battery/plugs, sco didn't. I had pre-arranged it though so I didn't need to go in twice. Sco was crossing his fingers to see how much they would look after him.

Cheers,
Hymee.

sco will be raising it as an issue at his next service. I've had a few situations where car has taken three goes to get started.

Like I said to Hymee a few months ago - they are not like they used to be... Once upon a time they were proactive... I think they are now too busy...

I mentioned this at the nats to a few people... got a call on the Wednesday before saying parts were in for my '8 to be fitted... just expecting a new engine grommet I queried the plurality of the term "parts" (well not in those exact words) and was informed, plugs, starter and battery.

Fitted today... she starts like a rocket... sounds as though it is cranking about twice as fast as the previous setup and the battery doesn't look like it is fully charged yet. Very happy and won't be stressing so much about it possibly flooding after a few slow starts I've had recently

Okay.....finally got a VIN cutoff. The dates are later than the ones I was originally told.

The first six speed Australian RX-8 to be fitted with the upgraded starter motor during production was built on December 1 2004.

The first auto Australian RX-8 to be fitted with one during production was built on November 8 2004.

Cheers,
Gomez.

And the VIN is??

I am interested as my car arrived with the new starter (according to the errata sheet provided with the manual).. Was it installed at the factory or in Australia before it was sold? On the factory assembly plate the date is NOV 04, but the compliance plate is DEC 04....

Thanks Gomez

Mine is slightly earlier than that (less than 80 away) so the upgraded starter must have been fitted in Australia before delivery to the dealer or perhaps in the factory holding area prior to shipping...

okay - budding honourable apprentice - here is 200 starter motors fit them to all those cars going to Australia this afternoon..
