My car got the Mazda fix for this problem yesterday. New starter motor, battery and plugs. I asked whether there was a software upgrade, they said my car had the latest version, but it may have been automatically upgraded at my 40k service two weeks ago. The guy said that they don't use letter prefixes to differentiate software versions in this country - they have a numeric prefix.

The car certainly starts very quickly now; just like a "regular" car.
