EZZY,

Brian is the one that knows about the RX-8. And I suspect his is the only one knows something there. Most managers (ie Rita) only do admin work.

Heard a lot of bad things about City Mazda since the regular have left. And I have heard at least one bad story from each dealer now. So I guess you are never immune. LOL.

Oh I have not heard bad thing about the Mazda in Sale. Maybe it is time to go there

What is done on the 40K service that worth $430-460.

I got a quote for $460 and I was shocked.

I think they change the cabin filter. That is about it I think. Do they inspect bloody everything in the car?

I must well tell him to stick it back to their @$$.

Taka, brake fluid replacement and cabin filter are the essential differences above the 30K service. A few underbody inspections too....five minutes worth.

My 40000km service was just under $260 ...

... likewise my 20k, 30k and 50k service ... +/- $10.

What exactly did they do to need $460, which is $200 more! Is a cabin air filter $200?!

I remember them telling me I needed a new cabin air filter a while ago, and I told them not to change it.

Did you tell them to "stick it to their ****"?

Yes please.

According to the service book, they have to change the break fluid and cabin filter for the serice stamp. I think the bulk of the money goes to service cost - they claim a bloody hour to do the breaks.

I will do mine 40K after a track day then . Mine brake fluid only changed in June (with the bling bling mod)

I got the cost off my visa statements, but I'll see if I still have my service logs. I've filed them away somewhere I think, will have to check.

Actually, I think I missed a service when I was having the issues with the suspension! I'll give the shop a call today and see if I did.

Had the 40k/24month service done today, only done 33k though. It cost $322.10. They changed the brake fluid, but I had to take it back twice to get them to fix the brakes. They must have got air in them or something. They said that they took it for a test drive, but as soon as I first applied the brake, it felt spongey. Drove round the block and took it back. They allegedly re-bled them, but it still didn't feel right. Took it back again, and they did it again - seem ok now, but you start to forget what's normal after a while driving with the abnormal.
No mention of the cabin filter either.

Got my 40 000km service done today which included brake fluid replacement and pollen filter change. They also fixed a rattle in the steering wheel.

To my surprise the cost was only $266.85 which included a 10% discount as they had me waiting for 45 minutes while they had to revisit the rattle after a road test.

Grand Prix mazda have now swithced to using the rotary oil so they kind enough to leave the remainder in the car.

However, I noticed they used Protec engine flush. Aparently they use this at every 20 000km service to clean out the engine from sludge.
