Updatage time.

Had a talk to my service guy.

He reckons Mazda have issued a bulletin saying cabin filters now get replaced at 40K because they were finding there was nothing wrong with them at 20K. I didn't ask for a copy of the bulletin as that would amount to calling him a liar and I don't need another $hitfight at the moment.

I've got it booked in for next Tuesday so they can have another go at the parcel shelf rattle. This time they're going to have a tech available to ride in the back when I drop it off so I can point out the noise (like it's hard??? ).

The pathetic car wash attempt got blamed on water restrictions. He reckons they'll do it properly this time.

As for pricing, he needs to speak to management about it. He offered the excuse that some of the dealers skimp on their checks, etc but that didn't run. Although I'm sure some lazy techs just tick the boxes and change the oil, I gave him enough prices from enough dealers to suggest that Brookie really were one out on pricing.

We'll see...

I had my 70,000 service done last week.

"Mobil 1 Signature Service" was $121 + GST.

They even checked things, such as the condition of the gearbox and diff oil. Pulled out plugs to check the condition. Even found a nail in a tyre.

Plus I got a loan car.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Nope. Even got a fresh (unopened) 1 litre bottle of oil for top ups.

Cheers,

Revolver--- sorry to hear dude...seems like they haven't a clue.. which is what we've worked out!..

they gave KT (my g/f ) the same "I'll take it to management" line over the cost, then basically said no way is it changing ...

I've been absent from here for a while, but I'm back now.. intermittently!...

I just dropped ours in at Tom Kerr at Gladesville..for a 1.5 year./ 30000 km service- it's only done 15,500 though.. but whatever! effectively it's a safety check plus oil change from what I can see..

so we're dropping 3 years of extended warranty from crookvale (but the car is being replaced in approx 2 years anyway).. but it's more convenient, and hopefully cheaper with better service!

I'll see what I get stung for this afternoon, but it's getting a wheel alignment (still slightly wrong from when brookvale had it) getting the sometimes hard to select reverse checked and the fuel tank/heat soak/sheilding recall work done.

if you want a wash you have to pay for it- but I figure it's both cheaper than a wash at a handwash place, and if you are paying you can at least have a go at them over it..

I actually got spoken to nicely, asked about the car and what I think - any issues, and dropped at the front door at work, and they'll be back to pick me up this arvo..

The service manager was a little surprised I was dropping off the '8 though in my cargo shorts and t shirt and then getting the courtesy bus to work! the suit who got off the courtesy bus with me (and works for our competitor up the road) was a little taken aback to :D... I love my job! :D..

I'm about to buy new car (this time from Nissan - an 06 Navara turbo diesel) I hope I can find a dealer with their after sales act together...

i am doing the same 1.5yr/ 30k servicing today at Tom Kerr. (although i've done 20k too)..
hey RSS, is your one a black? i saw a black one left in the car park when i dropped mine off.
i'm also getting the starter motor upgrade today.. also requested them to check my clutch shudder problem.. they convinced me additional $130 for injector cleaning that i should do with this service... and also wheel alignment and balance too (another $60 or so i think..)
i've also droppped 3 yrs extended warrranty from my original dealer which is Hornsby..
i've changed to Tom Kerr because i live and work more closer to them and they give me lift to and from my work during the servicing. but the service guy advised me no more dropoff after 9:40am but the pickup guy told me they still pick up at 11am which is the time I want to be dropped off. the loan car they charge about $40 i think...
the one thing I don't like about them is they don't use the rotary oil and also don't give u the remaining unsued oil. I asked why and they told me that they only charge for the amount of oil they use.. I think they use the Castrol one.. anyway, maybe we can compare notes on their servicing quality..

hey dude,
yup it's black!... I forgot to mention the occasional hard start- we'll do that next time

they rang me about the injector clean as well.. I told them to not to bother .. waste of time and money at this stage IMHO... come on.. 15 Kkm and the injectors need a clean - gimme a break!! .. my 225,000 km old ute hasn't had one yet! ...

I use penzoil semi synth for the occasional top up.. good enough for the rally car, good enough for the road car.. so the oil they put in isn't bothering me either.. the car isn't driven hard..

Cheers

There isn't an RX-8 in this country that needs an injector clean.

Injector service! What a load of crap! These guys are complete cowboys

I bet the injector clean involves fuel additive, something Mazda specifically says not to do.

You're right, it's in the owners manual.

However, the dealerships have an additive they use.

To improve fuel injection performance, Mazda has tested and approved a highly effective FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER. The kit and cleaner is recommended for all Mazda fuel injection systems. Mazda's Fuel Injector Cleaner uses a chemical "reducing agent" rather than the common solvent used in the typical aftermarket cleaners. As a result, in tests against aftermarket competitors, Mazda's cleaner outperformed all others and was the only one to restore the fuel injector's flow rate to the original factory specifications.

Rowds,

Good to hear from you and thanks for the feedback.

I'll see how they go and what they say when I drop it off tomorrow.

Difficult thing for me is that Brookie is so convenient to home. Although I guess there's gotta be another Mazda dealer between the northern beaches and the city right??? Anyone aware of one and have good things to say about them?

thats sucks!
i dont know how "ppl" would do that.... did they at least give you a free loaner? probably not...
when i was planning to go there, called up, they were unprofessional over the phone, overcharging and wont give me a free loaner..... (only because it is closer to work at the time)...
so went back to the good old rockdale mazda, and i wouldnt go any where else

No worries!..

yeah the downside of crookie for us was that it's 20 -25 minutes the wrong way- that just added insult to injury!...

I dunno if there is.. Eurocars is at artarmon, but I was told to stay clear from a sales pt of view initially.. otherwise I don't think there is anyone else...

I can't wait til the warranty is up - we'll just take it to Reliance in canberra when we are down there and be done with it...

no mate, they charge about $45 for loan car and about $25 for a carwash...
but at least they can drop me off and pick me up from my workplace nearby..
the fact is, Rockdale is not convenient for me since its too far from North Ryde area. I could goto Hornsby or Atarmon but I'm giving benefit of doubt with Tom Kerr since I didn't like Atarmon dealer at all and Hornsby is little bit further as well.

Okay so I'm home....

courtesy bus picked me up on time,... nice..

arrived-- car was still being washed and vac'd... fark me... they've had it 9 hours!! still it was nice to get into a clean car... :D they only took 10 minutes of my time though..

the bill was $320

24.95 car wash & vac.

40 bucks wheel align- it's actually right now! :D

18 bucks wheel rotation

so the 30 Kkm service itself was approx $230

not bad for them for a quick oil change and bolt check...

135 labour
40 oil ( 4litres)
12 -injector cleaner in a bottle
12- something else random

Can't wait to get away from dealer servicing.. should only be 100 bucks really.. 40 bucks oil, and 60 bucks labour...

Yep - I "took the plunge" so to speak, and I am more than happy.

The only thing missing would be "flash" updates, but we have other ways of doing that now.

Cheers,
Hymee.

i can inform that they charged the same to RRS exception of extras $$ for the injection cleaning service.. (parts + labour)
well, I've informed that service guy John that i wasn't too impressed after hearing the advices from you guys and also the fact that Hornsby dealer had offered me discount for the same service earlier. he was at least decent enough to offer me discount on my next servicing to try and keep me happy. I have to go back in again sometime because they didn't have the parts for those starter motor upgrade... although i've informed the man over the phone when i was booking to make sure they have the parts because i'm in no hurry to get the car serviced... it would have been easier for me to just make one trip to the dealer instead of having to go there everytime they ship out one part..
