Thumbs down Saw the New MX-5 and Mazda6-Turbo today.!!

Got invite by Mazda to check out the two new cars.

me and my friend didn't like it alot.

The new MX-5 just like old one with wide body. the steering wheels just look 90% like Z4's one. don't like it that much.

The mazda 6 Turbo. just look the same as the old one. with different kit. didn't get to drive it. but other then that. nothing really different.

But found out the white RX8 will be here soon!! which is nice.

But i am pissed

The dealer was running late finishing my car's service and I wandered over to the showroom for a look see...

I really liked the look of the MX-5 - now with Michellin tyres.. Excellent finish.. Sigh - can't have one with Miss 6..

The MPS looks like a car that will have many recalls. For example there is a tin shield between the (very small) brake fuild container and the exhaust... I can just see the "Melting brake fluid container" recall happening soon... Massive air cleaner.. Problem is - it is just a sedan with a turbo that looks better than a Subaru... Can't even get it as a wagon...

Mate, you've just hit the nail on the head twice!

I feel the same way about the MX5 (and the Boxster for that matter). Would love to have either in my garage but kids rule them out. Still, I can live with the 8 until I can afford an M3 or 911! :D

And I feel the same way about the 6 MPS. If they were selling them as a wagon I'd buy one for the wife immediately. Now, wouldn't that raise interesting dilemmas upon going out to the garage in the morning?? Think I'd have to FI the 8 just to keep things simple!! :p :D

I love the new MX-5, refused to take it for a test drive when I had my RX-8 in for the 30k service, just knew that I'd want to buy one and couldn't do without the RX-8's better practicality.

So I bought a 2nd hand MX-5 to complement the RX-8 :D

Hmm, I wonder if 4 of us should kick in $10K each and share one.

I was quite impressed with the MX-5 SE when I drove it.

Should go in and test drove it last time I was there. I had my car for service but I took their free loan ute to pick up my helmet. I should have asked to test drive the MPS 6.

A mate of mine has the luxury sport 6 hatch and he's been given a recall about the

exhaust/fuel tank issue. Saw an MPS6 on lane cove Rd. I'd seriously prefer the MPS if it was

a hatch. Dig the hatch much more.

I quite like the new MX-5, but won't be getting one. Still got my '90 MX5. The RX8 will stay till I get an M3 or a 911 ( hey revolver, got good taste) . My partner wants a Mazda 6 ( she's had enough on the Sonata) but no more mazda's for me, after owning 4 and being a one time mazda enthusiast the treatment i have received from Paradise Mazda has put an end to my relationship with Mazda. it will be eurpean for me from now on.

AMG, is that your only dealership? Unless the problem was specifically a Mazda problem please don't end a long Mazda relationship over a bad dealer. Tell Mazda why you will never purchase a Mazda from that dealership any more and perhaps ask them to recommend a dealership in Adelaide with excellent customer service

I have spent well in excess of $100k on them over the last 5 years, and more in the past 10 years. mazda knows my issues, they don't care. What happened, well booked my RX7 in for a service. Their posted speed limit is 5km/hr, I was doing about 20km/hr in their car park, and some smart arsed sales man whom I had never met told me to not use their car park as a race track. At 5km/hr both the RX7 and the RX8 will stall. Anyway, an argument ensued as a result of his belittling attitude and I left, once home called the yard and asked to speak to the dealer principle and he refused to talk to me except to say he stands up for his sales man. So i asked them to remove my details from their database ( I had been dealing and referring to them for years) which they had a hard time doing because they kept on contacting me for servicing etc, finally i wrote them a letter quite firmly stating that they MUST remove my details from their database. Anyway friends of mine who own Duttons Mazda whom I had booked in my 8 for it's service called me and said they had just received a fax from MA to have my details removed from their database i had asked to not be contacted by any mazda dealership and they have to comply with this unde rthe Privacy Act. So my friends call me to ask if I'm pissed off with them and I had to expalin that it is paradise mazda that I've got the beef with. Anyway, after my current fleet no more mazda's because of some half brained sales bloke, and a disrespectful and inconsiderate dealer principle. furthermore, any other dealerships are too far for servicing requirements. Remember I'm in Adelaide and we hat etravelling far for a service.

fair enough, just seems disappointing that you will forgo Mazda because of one dealership.

Yes well... We have had 4 Mazdas and three dealers.. When we purchased Mazda two we got a doozy of a dealer.. It was only that the first Mazda was a good car that we even gave Mazda another chance... The RX-8 (car 4) and the Mazda 6 (car 3) were purchased from the same dealer..

I guess we are lucky in Brisbane that we have two really good dealers, one dud and one unknown quality (too far south for me to check)..

Your comments say volumes about THAT dealership and I can understand why you would drop Mazda after such an experience..

I don't think I could go a Porsche, always loved them, but not practical enough. Maybe a Boxter to replace the MX-5 eventually.

The RX-8 isn't impractical. It's got 4 seats and once the spacesaver spare (what a complete joke that name) is removed the boot has reasonable room. Now an MX-5 has zero practicality, I spent 18 months with that as my main car, it was only because the RX-8 was as good a drive as the MX-5 I replaced it. Now I've got an MX-5 to have fun in when I don't need to be practical

Understand your problem now AMG, thanks for the explanation. Not surprised you want nothing to do with them.

And I reckon I could put up with any compromises the 911 might force upon me. :D

Sheeesh, the life of a porsche owner would be quite compromised. There is only one downside of the eventual day of owning a 911 - could you imagine what their forums are like.

having been at a couple of porsche sprint days and whipping their ***** driving my MX5 racer I haven't found porsche owners to be overly friendly to non porsche people. I'm sure I can adapt though :D
