But that site visit has raised the question again. Both of the pictured discs above are from the 5000 series tested in motorsport applications for extreme conditions......

So the one in

And SHOW is the 4000 series...

I think the Application Chart on the site is even more useful.

I am club level (up to 220kmh) - Well certainly I am at 190kmh at the back straight of Sandown. I am looking at it hard - how much is it I wonder :o

Gomez,
I see your point. This web page was made before the 5000 was available in a drilled version.
I think the marketing boys need to do some updating. The drilled 5000 fits into the 4000xs application group. I.E Premium street use.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Regards
Steve

Whcih brand of pad do you recommand for your rotor, or it does not matter.
I guess if you change the rotor, you will advice your customer to change the pad at the same time?

Whether the disc is 4000 or 5000 series if it is drilled (XS) it fits into the premium street catagory.

I have found it to sometimes be advantageous to exchange new rotors and leave the old pads in for a while (500 + km). Your mechanic may not like the idea but it often allows the new discs to settle in without too much stress. Naturally the old pads will have plenty of life left in them and the friction face cleaned up (redressed).
Fitting new pads and rotors is fine as long as the correct bedding in procedure is followed.

I'd say we will take note of the feedback to see if it's worth while making a two piece rear.

DBA 42551SL $235
DBA42550SL $242
DBA52550SL $460
That's each including GST from Specialised Brake and Clutch in Sydney
02 9673 0988
You may be able to do a club deal with them if you wish.
Alternatively you have Repco, Bursons, Autobarn, ECT.

Fair comment!
It can be very confusing.
It depends on your driving style.
Street use -
Hawk HPS - standard
Ferodo XL - medium
Hawk HP plus - med to aggressive
Ferodo Formula - aggressive
Track
Ferodo formula - club day intermediate
Hawk HP plus - club day intermediate
Ferodo DS2500 - club day spirited
Hawk HT10 - club day spirited
I hope this helps a little.
That thread is mainly focused on the WRX which is under braked. The RX 8 brakes are a better balanced system.
