RX 8 in Sydney

G'Day Guys,
I need a volunteer in Sydney with an RX8 to allow me to trial fit a new front brake design. There is no driving involved, just a simple fitup and your welcome to hang around and watch.

Please contact
Steve Gavin
Chief Engineer
Disc Brakes Australia
02 9748 0211
or
design@dba.com.au

P.S You wont leave empty handed.

Thanks!

If it means getting a set of cross drilled rotors for next to nothing (free?), I think I could spare the time.

Thanks for the offer.

About 10 mins after my post I had a call and arranged a time with a local owner.

Obviously I found the right place to post my request........
I'll take a couple of pictures and post them up if you like.

New brake means caliper and rotor or just rotor and pads?

Hmmmm.... rotor and pads interest me more than a just a front caliper. It is a mere insurance restriction. I still want to keep my options open

Designed and manufactured in Australia by Australians.

Now theres something you don't here very often.

Although most are heading for the USA and Europe.

Now we have some pics Takahashi you can see there is no change to the caliper system.
The RX8 is quite well balanced in the brakes which eliminates the need for larger rotors, calipers, ECT. You'd do better with a nice set of tyres.

PERFECT!

Love it.... Steve, when you have the $figure from the sales dept, let us know ASAP and contact detail of your sales manager and I will order one if price is reasonable.

What is the pad made of... it is not AP Racing right

Agree to that sentence to a nth degree... how does this guy know my tyre is just about worn out .... :p Semislick for track ok?

I eventually will change to rotor/pad package when my current one is done. The only JDM set I can found is veyr pricey... hope you have a better price.

Group Buy?? heheh :D

Steve, I note you've labled the drilled/slotted rotor as "show" and the slotted rotor as "track". In engineering terms, can we expect the slotted rotor to significantly outperform the drilled/slotted?

I'm sure Steve will say this 1000 % better than I 'mez, but drilled= cracking when heat cycled a lot - ie. track work...

Slotted = no cracking, but has the same advantages of keeping pads clean, and allowing outgassed crap away from the friction surface @ high temperatures.

Gomez,
I've done more testing than I care to remember and basically the results from drilled verses slotted are the same each time.

Drilled start off a little better due to some mechanical advantage in the initial bite and slotted finish on top due to slightly more surface area and mass to absorb heat. It's a bit like comparing a 100m sprinter to a 1500m runner.

Crikey I am Steve Irwin...... :D
He'd do a great job in the promos wouldn't he?

All the RX8 discs have the pillar vent system known as the K/Paw.

What he said!
On the ball Rowds.....

Gass isn't a real issue anymore but the need for dust evacuation has increased.
