Redlined
Redlined our VR RX-8 yesterday. Took it up to 8k in second but had to stop because we were doing 97 in and 80 zone. ripped it up at the next set of lights and heard the 'beep' for the first time. Awesome!:p

I redlined the demo about 20 seconds into the test, pulling
out of the Mazda Dealership.
The salesguy warned me about it, and I promised to behave
after that.
I still hear the warning beep every couple of days, but I like
playing through the revs.
It is probably because my trade-in was a VVTi 6 speed Celica, which only performed if you spanked it hard. Because I had that for three years, my gear change habits have carried over. That's ok though, because the RX8 likes being spanked too. The main difference it doesn't make as much noise about it, and won't torque steer. Oh, and the RX8 is quicker. But you all knew that.

I've got about 2800 on the odo by now.
Anyway, I don't think it gets near 100 in 1st. The extra power above about 7500 doesn't seem to be huge. But I believe adding one of the soon to be released after market exhausts fixes that.
I'm usually too busy looking at the road and listening
to the engine when changing that high. I'd guess
around 70 or 80 kph before the 1st change is required.
I'm driving from Adelaide to Lismore, via Sydney, in 2 weeks, so I'll let you know what is does at the redline in 3rd as I find a suitable spot on the Hay plain ;-)

I found this unusually straight peice of road with this speed trap thingy on it. It was really wierd, as there was a set of lights about 400 metres before the speed trap.
I observed this RX8 was going through the speed trap just as it hit the RPM limiter (9,500?) in 3rd, and he was doing about 148.58 km/h. And it took him 15.099 seconds to get there.
(I know this guy, and he has a mate who reckons... :p )
