Recent Event O'Neill track day. Plenty of rotary actions.
The RX-8 member has a good representation this month's ONeill day which is on 26th of Oct.
It is a beautiful day and the scene is set to have some fun rubber burning time.
For some of us, it was the virgin track day: Kalli with her MissyK and Danielle with her Ralliart Colt. auzoom and RXVIII are the first timers here and enjoying it.
It is routine to get some wonder shot from Peter Kotsa. He also spent time in our first Victorian Club Winton Track day.
For me, I have these new wheel and rubber. They are the SR2 model of the RE55S and said to be firmer and last longer. I have these rubbers mounted on the WedSports TC105N (18 X 8.5" +32 offset all around). They are light and weight 7.7kg each.
A more aggressive camber angle has also been dailed. This time I am traveling in -2.6 degree camber front and -2.3 camber back. Toe out in front (about +1.2mm in total) and toe out at the rear (about +2.4mm in total).
From the previous dyno day. I learned that R Magic filter and BP fuel were and I steer away from them. This time I had the MS filter and V Power fuel instead and they do feel better.
I also have the AP racing caliper with Project Mu HC+ pads and SCR-PRO rotor. At Sandown, it is a real test of the brake performance and they did not disappoint. It may have scared my instructor a little but his word "the brake is phenominal, Steve". That worth all the money I paid for it. The brake pads hold up well for the long session I had and certainly they are ok for this track, S tyre and warm temperature (18 degree air temp). Project Mu has come up with carbon ceremic models for track use but I doubt that it will be necessary. The side effect of those ceremic pads are rotor wear, but they do last during the track day (up to 900 degree) and good rating for absolute stopping force. Anyway.
As USUAL, the bloody "fast" car are there. It can be blamed as part of the reason I was "slow". They all do low 30s on the track. Some Porsches are in the high 20s, but a string of fast lap is hard when the passing rule is courteous.

Taka VS BMW Z4 M. This baby has stock 252kW at the fly and Brembo 6 pot front and 4 pot rear *and they are certainly upside to fill the 18" rim. The guys also had brand new Michellin Pilot Sport Cup semi slick from the M3 CSL.

Great videos Taka! As for the experience on the day, I think we all enjoyed ourselves. I'm just hoping to see more Victorians with RX8s or ex-owners to join us when we return to Sandown in the near future. IT is a great occassion to really burn off those carbon deposit in the Renesis. So people, don't hesistate to book your place next time as it was a full house on this day.
Mechanically, I feel the RX8 can lap the circuit all day!
I am still amazed how well the RX8 stands up to track abuse. Tyre wear, brake performance, engine and handling I give 10 out of 10.
Re: Project Mu HC+, no fade at all. Plenty of dust though... but, who cares!

hahahaha Taka vs Kalli? was that when you overtook me and my instructor got annoyed
I had great time. Was major learning curve for me to see how well the car handles. My suspension rocks! Anyone thinking of Konis go for it. Car felt majorly firm, I suppose since I also have the whiteline sways also helped. There was no moment that I felt like I had no control. I CONTROLLED the car whole time. Was awesome. She did exactly what I wanted her to do, and went exactly where I wanted her to go! Brakes are awesome lol
Must admit, despite fact I was surrounded by my fellow RX8 peers (and that includes you too Stu ) whom are experienced to the max And having two ferraris, handful of porschas and gorgeous GT3's, also lotus's everywhere, I did not feel nervous at all!
I was worried at the start, however once got out there I was just cruising. I did not feel pressured by the faster cars, nor did I feel worried about my cars abilities. I had instructor with me most the day, and he was very happy with my progress. Look forward to more educational days
Thnx to all you guys for convincing me to go, and for giving me cheers hehehe

See how my turbo holds up... and how fast I get up down the main straight..
Maybe I will be able to punch it into 5 gear finally.... oops but then I'm going to have to slow down.....
What speeds are you guys hitting down the main straight of sand down??
So far at eastern creek I've done a screaming 198km per hour in 4th gear...

Maybe the Stig will Adopt you and you can be called....... Mini mee... Stig
Nice video , your exhaust has a great note , possibly change the steering wheel to a smaller one for better easier quicker hand movement ?
Good consistent driving for a young bloke
Have you got a RP short shifter ?
Michael

Fantastic pics and vids Taka . If only the straights were shorter and the corners more plentiful.
Loved that shot of the 360 just disappearing up the straight . What were you hitting on the straight?

Nice Vids Taka,
Your new track rims look awesome in motion.
Your sways and tein keep your car nice and flat throught the corners, you smash everyone through the corners - there were even a couple of cheeky passing opportunities with the Lotus, but would have been a bit close for comfort and most likely would have ended in tears. Probably a bit aggresive for a friendly non competeitve meet also. Well done mate.
Would love to see the Taka v Kalli clip.
Very nice Taka - makes me wanna have a go. Somewhere along the line I might.
Thanks for sharing
