Racing Beat Exhaust
Received my bits and pieces from Racing Beat on Tuesday and Ric (Shaw) installed them for me yesterday.
I ordered their REV8 Exhaust, aFe Air Filter, ULTRA 8mm Silicone Ignition Wires.
Putting these parts on together makes it impossible to see the individual impact, suffice to say the end result is impressive.
Initial driving impressions are that the rotary spins up even smoother than before and there appears to be the "advertised" increase in horses (ie approx 3.5hp).
The added benefit is the exhaust note. WOW! I feel like my 8 has now gone through puberty, its ***** have dropped, and it now has a deep, bass voice! No rice sound at all, just this deep growl when you punch the throttle.
Before you all ask about the Dyno..........no plans at this stage.......
but I'm real happy with the result!

Yeah, a new exhaust is mandatory. The RX8 is a gelding without it. The note is not what you would expect after hearing FDs and other pre-renesis rotaries.
As well as the feeling of more power (actually, it probably feels like more torque than more power ...) , I have noticed I never get troubles starting the car anymore. Before the exhaust, sometimes the 8 would struggle a bit to start, and I'd have to turn the ignition off and start again. Now that problem has completely gone - it is a very big cooincidence.

Well, on the subject of exhaust tones, I have to say, IMHO, the rotary is not right 'up there'.
Seems to me you need some serious metal fatigue happening, such as emerge from a V8 or better, a V12 to have a really good sound.
....and the Ducati is right 'up there', too.
The turbo rotaries give sounds that are otherwise heard emanating from a flatulant old man with asthma … not all that appealling
But Hymee's (the only one I've heard) does at least give more chest to the 8's sound, so I eagerly await mine

Congratulations,
I am a fan of Racing Beat products myself. Out of curiousity how much did the exhaust cost by the time you got it shipped paid import duty etc?
I have recently ordered Hymee's exhaust as I have had the chance to inspect the quality and exhaust note first hand. I cant wait!

It is no coincidence the man who I reckon makes the bast sounding LS1 exhausts makes the best RX-8 exhaust I've heard.
Here is a link to some of my favourite vids with my old SS exhaust on song...
http://www.hymee.com/videos/driveby.wmv (1.8Mb)
Mine is the first one to go past after the camera rotates (Gold Sedan))
http://www.hymee.com/videos/reardriveby.wmv (1.5Mb)
Mine is the gold sedan following the gold ute just after the camera rotates. Dig the last one give it a bootfull. On-ya Mozz!
We need some vids like this from some rotar cruises.
Cheers,
Hymee.

The problem is that if you make more torque (at a certain RPM), then you MUST be making more power at the same RPM. You can't alter the laws of physics.
Cheers,
Hymee.
