Quad exhaust pipes

I wonder what quad exhaust pipes would look like? I think if the exhaust note was tough enough, you could just about get away with it. Thoughts? (Be nice )

I might pop down to Rotary Heaven in Adelaide and ask the guys there. Their first "pulled apart and reassembled" RX8 should be ready by now. A quad exhaust system was mentioned in passing.

It would be interesting to compare what those guys are doing with what Ric Shaw is doing with what the US chums are doing.

(and what Mazdaspeed may be doing?)

Wink

The exhausts look slighly overcrowded to me and in real life they would melt the rear plastic surrounds even with the aluminium exhaust protectors . IMHO.

Looks mean aka BMW 4x4, but would be a tight fit. Could be considered rice though. Looks a bit overcrowded like L&L says.

Actually, since there is 3 exhaust ports on the Renesis, I was thinking about having 3 outlets. One on each flank, and one right through the rear rotary crest. D'oh!

D.G.W - are you going to surpise us?

I can see my signature block now.... "First Aussie RX-8 with quad exhaust pipes".

Hymee - I hope your exhaust man is up to the challenge!

Go that direction & you spike the power curve aswell as reducing the power band. Wierd sound from it too. Only spotted it a few times over the years

At least thats what happens when you do it to earlier rotary engines.

I'm sure that would be the case! The problem with the written word is that you couldn't see my tounge pushing my cheek out.

:D

Cheers,
Hymee.
