I got the card telling me that a Customer Service Manager would shortly be in touch. They also indicated that the contact I made "is important to us". That makes me feel a heck of a lot better and I am sure it is only a matter of time before all Australian RX8 owners receive a positive response .........

Well, I suggest you write an email to the head honcho D Dickson At Mazda Australia asking why have I not received a reply..

Here is his email address, ddickson@mazda.com.au

Or J Read, Customer Services manager MA, jread@mazda.com.au

If we have not seen a definitive answer from Mazda Australia by the end of this month...Plan C will be actioned....Mazda Japan.

I think I have Malcolm Goughs email address on an old PC or written down somewhere, he is in charge of International Marketing for Mazda in Japan and was MD at Mazda Australia when the RX-8 was first released.
He resides in Hiroshima.

Thats why I posted it! I suspect if we do get a win, someone will end up having to pay for it and guess what...it won't be out of the Mazda Execs superannuation package.

Unfortunately the Honda pic was the closest example I could find to articulate my message...even they don't have a turbo charger!

Ok guys, just received my confirmation letter re extended warranty from Mazda Australia this morning - 6 weeks after I communicated with them.
Here is the gist of their reply....

"Mazda North America's decision to implement this (extended warranty) was for reasons specific to the North American market. It was a show of confidence for North American consumers unfamiliar with the rotary engine & further proof of the RENESIS engine's reliability & longevity.

Mazda Australia has no plans to change the current three year, unlimited km warranty for rotary engines. This warranty mirrors the Mazda Australia new car warranty for piston engined vehicles & it is also competative with other brands in the market.

We share your passion for the Mazda RX-8, and we thank you again for your support of Mazda Australia.

Kind Regards,
John Read

So it seems that our US cousins are "unfamiliar with the rotary engine" and "further proof of the RENESIS engines reliability & longevity"!!!

Yeah right - I wonder what implies? Because you are ignorant of how an engine works you get a double warranty.
Obviously we Australians are too familiar with how the rotary engine works.....

Well I 'spose I can expect something similar once they get enough money for another stamp.

What a lame answer! In other words, the yanks are dumb and need some encouragement but you're dumber because you'll buy it anyway without the encouragement. Gee, thanks Mazda.

Hi Steve...AND ALL!..

Well it looks like a pretty lame response from John Read even though it took them 6 weeks or more.

Personally I wont cop their response and excuse that the American market is somehow ignorant and needs a better "method" of communicating Mazda's confidence in their RENESIS rotary engine by the means of an extended engine warranty.

Plan C....
This is my next idea..and I would like ALL your thoughts and suggestions.
My next step is to communicate to Mazda Motors Japan, I have the address of the CEO and MD.
What I was thinking is starting a new fresh thread asking Australian members to add their name and vehicles chassis number, this is what Mazda Japan use as their only form of verification of a Mazda RX-8 ownership and your cars information.

So, I would then gather all this information say over a 6 week period and print the owner list off with an attached representative letter with our grievance and request for Australian Mazda RX-8 owners to be considered like our American Cousins...then I will post this off to MMC's CEO.

So what do you guys think...please tell me your views...here and NOW!

I honestly think Mazda Australia's handling of this matter is especially poor with the 6 weeks waiting time. I received my acknowledgement postcard on the 23 June 2007 and I have not heard anything else from them since. I suspect I will in the coming days.

Even Mazda Europe's response sounds more assuring than ours. What a disappointment.

From a marketing point of view, I think an extended factory warranty for all RX8s will only result in better sales. And with our current fuel prices and economic outlook, that makes sense. What is wrong with these marketing people??

Ash, count me in! I am behind you all the way.

Count me in - its going to cost absolutely nothing & the results could be positive...

Thanks for your time Ash - if you are starting a new thread I will add the details there.

Howdy - well got my official reply today also (see attached) - this is what I expected but the excuse for NA market is laughable.

Cheers,

Pappy

I'm in Ash. I'm getting increasingly pessimistic as to whether anything will come of all this but it's worth a shot and I appreciate your efforts.
