Picking up my RX-8 this coming Friday .. :)

Hi Guys

Just like to let you know I purchased an RX-8 Today!!

I ended up getting it from Brookvale Mazda the guy there treated me really nice
so I decided to give them my money.

I got

RX-8 Red With black leather pack
Fender Strakes
tints
mats
Illuminated Gear ****
extended warranty
Front & Back Rotary Motifs
all for $60,500 drive away...

I am really happy !!

I did go for a test drive and I very happy about the performance, it suits me fine
and reminds me a bit of my deceased MX-5...

Thanks for all the tips...

Hope to drive with you guys one day!!!

Cheers

Chauman

Congratulations.

I would have had mine Monday except for the Wing which requires painting & curing.

Looking at your deal I would say you got similar value to me. For my $61,000 I also got the Wing, & paint protection but no illuminated gear **** ... so about even stevens then. I know it might seem petty but it's nice to know that the deal I made isn't obsolete within a week!

Did you get one off the boat or already here? Mine came off the boat so it's an October build.

Did you use my deal or any one else's information in your negotiations?

Like me you will be counting down the sleeps until Friday

Hi Kiwimeat

I pretty much took what you wrote down but I changed the paint protection for the illuminated ****, they didn't want to do as they make higher margins on the paint. They did try to sell it to me again with the leather proofing??
Are these two items even worth it?

Mine is already here they had it in stock, I don't know what build it would be, I hope oct 04.

I haven't slept much at all

I did not believe in paint protection and leather proofing. But if you really want to do it, most places that they do are around $300 and Mazda charges $895.

I rather do it myself, more satisfaction. What they do is to put a layer of hard wax on. They are not as they said, "not required to wax for the next 3 years". You still collects road dirts and tars, making the paint feel "lumpy".

Taka will post the article from speed for you by today.

Paint, leather, vinyl, etc protection? Bloody waste of money!
They're just another money making scheme devised by dealers to increase gross.

read the book, run it in, and yeah treat it well, you'll learn something every day

the deal sounded great, just out of curiousity.....how did you get it to that price, ie did you haggle...? or he was just a salesperson getting rid of stock desperatey....??

how did it go down....

Without being too presumptuous and answering on chauman's behalf, I can say that chauman used information from my deal a couple of days prior to his.

Rough chain of events includes the following: -

After extensive research and contacts I got some price information - including a hard copy of a faxed offer for $61,300 drive away (Leather Pack no options) from forum member Cmac (thanks mate).

I used that to get my deal of $61K for Leather Pack, Wing, Fender Strakes, Rotary Motiffs, mats, tint & paint protection.

Chauman then used the above info plus others to negotiate his deal.

We both take delivery on Friday (2 more sleeps!). :D

BTW Eagers Mazda has 3 RX-8 on the showroom floor for $63K drive away - that's $5K off list before you even try.

Life's a bugger when you are an early adopter, and read these things! Still, I've had 15 months of enjoyment you haven't had :p

(Thinks: I suppose there is recompense in all those early admiring looks and comments )

Chauman, what will the first thing you do when you get a new car?

No No No No... not to go and show your mate.

The answer is to drive 45km to see your wife or gf....

I learnt this the hard way

Hey daz

kiwimeat is right. I took his deal and changed it around a bit.
Decided against the paint for the illuminated shift...
I didn't really haggle at all...
I think they will take you more seriously if you know what you want
I said straight up I'll buy one today for $60,500 as long as it's ready by the 12th of november no questions asked.

That's the best way to deal with the car sales guys. Do your reasearch so you know what you want and what a good price would be.

Then tell them you'll do the deal today at your price. More often than not they will get back to you winthin an hr wanting a deposit :D If not go to another dealer.

I've a mate buying an STI and since there are only 2 dealers in Sydney he is screwed, list price or nothing, we are lucky to be able to bargain.

Hi all

Well I got the car now and I am loving every minute of it!!!

I can't believe how easy and fun it is to drive.
As a former MX-5 owner, I didn't think I would find another car with such great handling.

I am so happy now..

I hope to see you guys around. I didn't see one RX-8 on the way home.

I was pretty close to getting booked aswell ... I know I have to run the engine in...but I'm finding it hard to stop myself...the engine sounds so good

Take care all
This should be one great weekend!

What the hell are you doing here! Get back out on the road! :D

Lucky bugger

I'm still waiting for the call from the dealer - to be fair they have rung three times this morning to keep me up to date.
