Hi All,

I recently gave an Rx-8 a go and decided its time to upgrade from my beloved mx5, a tough decision but i found when i'm out doing stuff with friends the 5 usually got left behind because of its 1 passenger limit. The RX8 offers a very similar driving experience with plenty of pro's and only a couple of con's.

Anyway since i know (and now kinda related to) a bloke who works for a mazda dealer, he managed to get me a really good trade for my mx5, what I felt was a good price and decided to go ahead and order a new one. Gunna get a white one by the way.

Right well it sounded from him like I could expect January before I get the new car, but I was browsing around on the forums and what it sounds like from reading a few threads, there arent going to be any new RX8's until up to June next year!!!!!!

Wow I'm gunna be waiting a long time it seems, which I dont mind if I can get a nice new 08 model and it lets me save up some more, although I'll probably spend it on all the extra bits and pieces!.

But does anyone have any more details on what the story is with new RX8's and when they are arriving? Is it really going to be June before I could see a new rx8 with my name on it??

ps. when I say 'new' I dont mean revised or facelifted versions of the car, although I wouldnt complain if that happens either!

From what I have been told by the dealers I know the story is as follows:

The current model is not no longer being made. There is a 40th anniversary model (basically the current model with a few extra's) that is all that is being brought in until stock starts arriving of the next model. Production of the next model is due to start around April next year.

I picked up my new leather pack manual RX8 (no sunroof) last week. I placed my order only a week prior to taking delivery. I was told that I got the last manual leather RX8 in Victoria. (build date was Sept 07)

That may not be uncorrect... nor it is totally correct.

According to earlier threads, your lot will be the last before the 40th anniv edition then the normal spec will come again in April 08.

Did I just repeat what Andrew said????? We only speculate what the next model will be. We concur that it is merely a facelift.

There is no plan for a new RX-8, and the new engine and car will probably go into production in 2011. Save up now.

Do i need a new car now? No, absolutely nothing wrong with my mx5... still love it to bits and it will be very hard to let go.

Do I want it now? Yep, I kinda got my hopes up that I might have it by christmas but it looks very unlikely now.

Only bummer is I might not get as good a trade in if the km's have to go up on my mx5 which they will between now and then.

Why does 6 months suddenly seem so far away....
