Illuminated gear ****

I was very fortunate Ryan (Rexy1900) from RX8.club sold me his illuminated gear **** after the initial sale fell through.

I had it installed by Mazda today and it cost me 1/2 an hour labour = $49.00.

The job actually took them 1 1/2 hours as they broke the wire when putting it in, and had to re-solder it to get it right (I hope it holds).

Anyhow, heres a couple of pics, which also shows off my stainless strakes which were put on at no extra charge at my last service.

The extra illumination on the gear **** makes the interior look that extra special of a night....and it even runs off the dimmer switch!

Nice one sarge!

Ive never really been a fan of the rotary shaped gearknob and my illuminated gearknob is sitting in my drawer.

Been there since about 2 weeks after I got the car,

If only the gearknob was more ergonomically designed I would have kept it.

Nonetheless, I hope you are happy with your purchase!

What gearknob did you have on it before?

Drew, I had exactly the same type as before, but of course without the LED light.

I'm not sure about your 'ergonomically designed' gearknob. Have you got one different my previous one (pic attached) and the one I now have?

It seems a shame your other gearknob is sitting idle when you could be getting good $$$$ for it....

I also don't mind this one....but in the carbon fibre colour.

Well I've got to admit the interior ambience of the interior of a night is very balanced....and very cool.

If you are installing it yourself I would recommend replacing the solid copper wire with the braided variety.

Good luck twisting Drews arm....

Done a few of them for various Rx-8 guys since 2003. Broken the wires on the first few. Be careful, can be tricky & catch you out. The power wires break very easily.

Have a "New" one floating around too complete with broken wire.

Easily soldered back on......

I was very lucky Andy Wana...right place at right time. $200 and $10 postage = $210.00, and it was sitting in Ryan's (Rexy1900) drawer since new.

I think they normally retail for around the $550.00 mark....
